Black color, brown head. Sweet, alcohol, vanilla scent. Sweet, raisin taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
Stunning and wonderful, one of my best beers for the entire festival (3 sessions).
128 ounce (1 gallon) brewery sealed growler, took a few days to drink it last weekend. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch brown head that didn’t stay around for too long. The brew smells like roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and some dark fruit. Taste is similar to the aroma, the brew tastes like roasted and burnt/charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, coffee, and a little bit of dark fruit. The bourbon is certainly noticeable in both the aroma and taste of this beer. However, I think the roasty bitter flavors are stronger than the sweet ones. Mouthfeel is light/medium, it’s thinner than I expected it to be. Certainly one of the thinner stouts I’ve had recently. It’s slick and coating, and also has low/moderate carbonation. I think this is a solid overall brew, I liked it. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - FEB 1, 2012

Sample at the Columbus Winter Beerfest on 01/14/2012: Pours black with a medium thin beige head that dissipates quickly. Short strings of lacing. The nose is bourbon-forward with some dark malts in the background. Rich body with an oaky bourbon character and notes of malt, vanilla and caramel. The finish is somewhat boozy with a black coffee and bourbon aftertaste. Pretty good all around. mikesaum (711) - Newark, Ohio, USA - DEC 26, 2011

Had right after the non-barrel aged version GABF 2011. Pours a pure black color with a small beige head. The aroma is dominated by sweet vanilla and bourbon, some dark fruit. The flavor is very nice; super sweet and hot bourbon, vanilla, hot sugary flavors, light roast and dark fruits. Very nice.
