Black color, brown head. Sweet, alcohol, vanilla scent. Sweet, raisin taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
Stunning and wonderful, one of my best beers for the entire festival (3 sessions).
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2013 Sampled from the gallon size growler you see in the picture. Thanks for sharing, Bob! Very dark pour with reddish highlights, smaller head. Great bourbon and chocolate on the nose and taste. Tastes slightly hot but this is super good. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 31, 2011
Draft sample at UMMO. Pours deep black with a chocolate brown head. Nose is perfumey vanilla and bourbon, Rich chocolate and coffee notes as well. Floral hops really help with the bouquet. On taste, the booze is well placed, not overdone and held in balance. There is a thickness to the mouthfeel with more molasses and chocolate notes. The quality of the barrel is pretty apparent. Nice bitterness to really tie this one together. Good beer. b3shine (9072) - Indiana, USA - FEB 16, 2013
Draft to taster. Looks good; black with foamy mocha lacing. Smells good too; dark malt, bourbon, vanilla, and a little roast. Tastes like it snells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Outstanding. Panzuriel (2333) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - FEB 22, 2013
Anastasia pours a inky black brown with a nice head of small tan bubbles. The prevailing nose is Chocolate, with hints bourbon and licorice. Taste is a mellow blend of earthy chocolate, medium bourbon oaky hints and just a touch of sweet alcohol taste. Body is medium full and silky. the chocolate presence finishes with a very pleasant kiss of dark chocolate. nice beer. On tap at Weiland’s fine foods in Clintonville, OH growlers to go. while it lasts.
kermis (14478) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 10, 2013
Sample at GABF 2013. Pours near black with a beige head. Aroma of massive bourbon, vanilla, fudge, toffee and caramel malt. Flavour is heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Brigadier (3725) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - MAR 20, 2014
On tap at Winter Warmer Fest 2014
fiver29 (1036) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - SEP 11, 2010
This was one of the main reasons I wanted to come to the festival. It did not disappoint at all. A world class barrel aged imperial stout is robust from first impression to final sip. I would definitely purchase this on draft if it made its way north.
Aroma / Appearance - A creamy inky black foundation is murky like motor oil drained from a high mileage car. Mocha head helps trap a profile rich in Woodford Reserve, vanilla, malt, coffee, and dark fruits. Thick and boozy it still manages to keep from being a muddy mess.
Flavor / Palate - Creamy and full bodied waves of flavor coat the tongue like a thick layer of paint. Woodford is offset by trades of vanilla, coffee, anise, raspberries, and cocoa. A masterful balance carries into a bittersweet finish. I could have drunk this all afternoon if not for so many other options to try.
On tap at Jackie O’s. Pours black with tan head. Aroma was bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, dark roast. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor followed the nose exactly and finished with a semi sweet bourbon note that lingered. Good stuff. Tmoney99 (14850) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Tap sample at CBWF. Poured a black color with an average creamy brown head that mostly lasted and produced excellent lacing. Heavy toasted malt, bourbon and chocolate aroma. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex toasted sweet bourbon flavor with a heavy toasted sweet finish of long duration. Best of fest complex standout brew.

Wow thanks for sharing Bob! This was a pour from a 1 gallon growler, the one in the picture up there at the top of this very page. Now, this 1 gallon growler is special - only for this particular beer. It even says ’please enjoy responsibly’ on it. Now what. The. Fuck. It’s a 1 gallon growler, there is no way to enjoy this responsibly, even with 8 of us.
Massive chocolate nose and well represented in the taste. What. Nice beer! Big motherfing growler!
