1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Ornery Otter on tap at Red Oak Pub in Newark Ohio. This blond poured an apple juice amber, clear with very little head. The nose was also faint, a bit of malt and a touch of hops but not much else. Taste was rather disappointing, weak and vaguely of grain. Body rather fluid, not overly carbonated. Finish just a touch of good bitters. Overall a very disappointing offering from an exceptional brewer.
Draft served in a pint glass at West End Ciderhouse. It’s a surprisingly dark, hazy old gold with a small off-white head that settles into a ring and a bit of film. There’s not a whole lot to it, just an underlying earthy hop bitterness with a pale and biscuity and semi-sweet malt backbone. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a malty, smooth mouthfeel that’s a little on the limp side as it finishes. Not particularly memorable, but based on the other ratings of this one, it looks like I’m actually on the high side. FROTHINGSLOSH (8164) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 17, 2015
Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was buttery and biscuity. The flavor was butter, biscuit and a bit of fruit underneath. Medium length finish. Medium body. Not good. rondphoto (4494) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - AUG 7, 2015
on tap @ Weasel Boy / Zanesville OH --- Clear bright medium orange amber color, ivory head cover, streaks of lace. Taste is sweet malt that moves without incident to a lightly carbonated swallow, then drifts through a lazy finish that offers only a taste of hops. A true session brew, enough to satisfy, but obviously not overbearing. DrSilverworm (9672) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 26, 2013
On tap during Ohio Brew Week 2013, taster from Crystal. Mildly hazy golden - orange color. Minimal white head. Lighter to medium body. Lighter, more crisp carbonation. More dry finish. Kind of a cheaper bite, lighter bitter taste. Not a huge fan of this one.

on tap-white-yellow/gold. A-sweet grain, honey. T-sweet grain, honey/apricot. Soft/minimal carbonation. Tmoney99 (15036) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 16, 2012
Draft. Poured clear golden color with an average white frothy head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate floral hop and malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew. Poured on draft. Clear pale yellow with a white head of foam. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Taste is sweeter than I would have expected, but it doesn’t seem out of place here. Finish is abrupt and a touch grainy. Nice blond ale. Thorpe429 (5122) - , Illinois, USA - AUG 11, 2011
On tap at Weasel Boy this past weekend. Dogbrick (14000) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 25, 2011
Pours a clean light golden color with a good white head and some light lacing down the sides. The nose carries a bit of light sweetness and some bread. Nothing complex, but nicely done. Flavor is lightly sweet and has bready notes and a touch of honey. Light body with good carbonation. An easy sipper on a very hot day.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a clear pale orange color with a thin off-white head that recedes quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Malty aroma with hints of fruit. Light, clean body with flavors of grainy malt, fruit and mild hops. The finish is short and fruity. Average overall.
