UPDATED: SEP 29, 2014 Pours a translucent brownish black on tap ugh fluffy tan head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of nice chocolate and a slight roast hidden by the English yeasty esters. Taste follows, creamy chocolate. Light carbonation and creamy on the mouth.

Beer #20 Asheville trip. Pours a very dark brown that looks black initially. Aroma is mostly chocolate, a hint of mild coffee with a good shot of cream in it. Flavor matches. Rather similar to the oatmeal stout, just not quite as smooth on the palate. Does any brewer in this town make a bad porter?

Draft at Wedge. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Slight chocolate on the nose and Im also getting a bit of the maple. Solid maltiness on the tongue. Finishes clean. This should be great for sessioning.

On tap at the brewery. Dark brown in color with a small khaki head. The aroma has caramel, milk chocolate, and maple syrup. Smells really nice. Excellent flavor with notes of burnt sugar, maple, and chocolate with just the right sweetness level. Just a touch of coffee. More chocolatey and less roasty than the oatmeal stout. Dry finish with medium body and average carbonation level. Very good stuff, another winner from Wedge.

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2011 On tap at wedge... Pours a dull deeper murky dark brown and topped with a minimal thin wispy barely off-white head... Maple and dark rooted caramel and toffee. Lacking in a sense... Dull roast, sweeter caramel, and maple notes throughout. Lightly roasty bitter finish. Medium sweetness from start to finish. Body is somewhat thin with light carbonation.
