On nitro-tap at the brewery in Asheville in 2012 (from notes). Served in a standard pint glass.
Opaque black with a creamy, tan nitro head that has good retention but that eventually reduced to a thin top-coat. The glass was well coated with lacing for over 1 cm above the beer.
Aroma: sweet malt and oats with a bit of an off-note.
T: a rich flavor of oats and roasted malts, but also a bit marred by the off flavor (Brett?). Too sweet, especially upfront.
M: smooth with well-chosen, light nitro carbonation.
O: mixed reaction due to the off-notes ... Disappointing. Leighton (22821) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 30, 2016
Draft at the brewery tap during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours dark brown with a creamy, tan head. Ashy character, with notes of tobacco, dry chocolate. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes somewhat dry, with further bittersweet chocolate, more ash and spent tobacco. Pretty good stuff. Sledutah (7979) - Utah, USA - FEB 17, 2014
On tap at the brewery bubbleflubber (2244) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - APR 12, 2013
Black with a big tan head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate.
Flavors of roasted malts, grainy and rich chocolate
Nice and tasty
On tap at The Wedge, this pours a deep black with a huge creamy tan head that leaves thick lacing. The nose is of deep chocolates and light roasts. Flavors are of deep roasted dark chocolate, and finishes with a milk chocolate creaminess. The nitro pour makes for a full, smooth, creamy body. Great oatmeal stout!

Draft opaque black with tan highlights. Coffee and roast nose. Smooth mouthfeel from the nitro. Taste coffee, dark cherry, and roast.

Pitch black with a tan head. Aroma contains some chocolate, coffee, and cookie dough. The flavor is well balanced with coffee notes for the bitter and chocolate and oatmeal for the sweet. After is bitter. Overall excellent on this cold day. jbruner (5470) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JAN 30, 2013
Pours an opaque black on tap with fluffy tan head and good lacing on the way down. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and dark chocolate. Taste follows with a smooth mouth from the oats and a creamy finish. Fantastically done and easy to drink. Wedge has something going here, they need to distribute. Beer #19 Asheville trip. Poured black. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Flavor is a dead on match, rich, creamy, delicious. Hops balance with bitterness only. Very well made beer, one of the best on the trip I think. magsinva (1493) - Virginia, USA - DEC 20, 2012
Tap at the wedge - pours pitch with a chocolate head. Nice chocolate notes on the nose. Another great one from the wedge. DiarmaidBHK (6151) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 20, 2012
Draft at Wedge. Pours black with a half inch of thick khaki foam. Slight chocolate nite on the tongue. There’s some slickness on the mouthfeel which I always like to see in this style. Dark chocolate on the tongue. There’s some hoppiness in the finish to clean up the afters. Nice!
