This Imperial IPA is the Iron Rail on steroids. With twice as many hops as the Iron Rail, it clocks in at about 100 IBUs!

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear amber with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is toast, cookie and biscuit malt, alcohol, pear and apple esters with spicy, floral, and herbal hops. Flavor is sweet malt dominant with spicy alcohol, fruity esters, medium hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium to full body and medium carbonation.

Draft to taster at Wedge during RBWG. Looks good; a fairly transparent dark orange with eggshell lacing. Smells sweet, hoppy, and malty. Tastes like it smells with a nice moufeel. A good example of the style.

Draft pour cloudy orange. Nose of Mano fruit, pine, and caramel malt. Taste grapefruit bitterness, sweet mid palate, and ends with alcohol burn.

This poured a dark orange with a white head. Aroma contains some citrus, perfume, and alcohol. The flavor contains some oranges, pine, lemons, and grapefruit. Some sweetness is present. This is one big badass beer. Aftertaste is bittersweet and boozy. Overall kick arse.

Pours a hazy golden orange on tap with fluffy white head and good lacing. Aroma of heavy hops, citrus and pine, with a slight caramel malt on the back end. Taste follows, incredibly bitter finish, in a good way, and a sweet undertone that hides the alcohol dangerously well. I could drink a lot of these when they are fresh like at the brewery.

Beer 23 Asheville trip. Medium to light slightly hazy orange with a nice head. aroma is a load of bitter citrus and pine hops, caramel notes. Flavor is a match. Pretty much a textbook IIPA. Liked this one as well.

Warm orange color. Advertised as an IPA/barley wine. Smells like a typical IPA. Flavor is floral and bright. Much more IPA than barley wine

On tap at the brewery. Orangish amber in color with a medium-sized white head. Nice orange and citrus aroma with complex hops and a bit of sweet malt. Pale and caramel malt base with grapefruit, tangerine, and resinous hops as well as some honey.  Dry and bitter. Mouthfeel is nice, medium-plus bodied with good carbonation and you can feel the IBUs. Nice DIPA overall.

Draft @ the brewery. Pours a dark orange amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty piney grapefruit aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter piney grapefruit flavor with hints of caramel. Has a sweetish malty hoppy bitter piney grapefruit finish.

Pours dark crimson. Mild aromas of bread malt and dried/candied fruit like figs, cherries & currant. Macerated cherry & raspberry on the palate. It’s very good, would especially be good in the fall, BUT, not a lot of hops?? Definately not what I"d expect from a double IPA. Obviously a less pungent hop was used here than the standard Cascade, etc. Not what I expected, but very, very good.
