This Imperial IPA is the Iron Rail on steroids. With twice as many hops as the Iron Rail, it clocks in at about 100 IBUs!

Must have local beer from Asheville, NC. Exceptional DIPA. Beautiful reddish-orange beer with a sweet vanilla-white head...gorgeous! Nice sweet citrus and pine flavors with a massive hop-bite finish...oh yum! a stronger cousin to the Iron Rail IPA(also an exceptional ale). This IPA has definitely been workin out and may be on steroids! Go to the brewery tasting room, get comfy, eat free peanuts and feed some to Ozzie, the bars Australian Shepard(he cracks them & gets out the nut). It dont get any better than this!

Its definitely a barley wine not an imperial ipa. It has citrus flavors with some orange, bread, some molasses.

Draught at the Wedge, Asheville, NC. Slightly cloudy amber colour with a small off-white head. Fruity and resiny hops, moderate bitterness and malty sweetness in the aroma. The flavour is strong... both in hops and alcohol. Piney and fruity hops, a truck load of sweetness... Is it possible to load a truck with sweetness? Sweet malt and alcohol. Tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the brewery, this pours a copper hue with a thin ring of suds that leave virtually no lacing down the glass. Lots of caramel, floral hops and esters to the nose. Flavors of caramel, fruity esters, lots of pine hops, alcohol, light diacetyl notes and finishing with a fruity sweetness with a light burn. The mouth eel is chewy, the palette sticky. The body is very full, and for an American barley wine, this is sweet and hits the spot wonderfully. Gorgeous offering from Wedge.

Draft in a taster at the brewery. Had this right after Iron Rail, which I guess was appropriate. Pours a cloudy bright orange- actually clearer than its lighter counterpart- with an off-white head that laces the glass. Notes of citrus fruits, caramel malts, pine resin, florals, and nectar. Medium-bodied, with a chewy, resinous mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. As with Iron Rail, I liked this better than I expected. Good imperial version.

on tap @ Wedge Brewing --- Clear dark amber. good head cover, splotches of lace. Sweet caramel malt is joined by medium citrus hops and sweet toffee in the palate for a tandem ride to an long, extended finish. Absolutely terrific balance, well designed, very satisfying, highly drinkable. Be careful: alcohol is deceptive. Whoosh!

On tap at the brewery during RBWG 2014. Pours a hazy amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has an earthy citrus with a bit of pine and a sweet bread backbone. Flavor has a nice pine and sweet bread combination with a bit of grapefruit underlying as well as a touch of booze.
