UPDATED: JAN 2, 2017 Sample at the taproom. Black pour with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Roast malt, dark chocolate and fruit in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and raspberry. The finish is malty up front with a lingering berry aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Draft at the brewery tap during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. Rich dark chocolate is obvious, and it is cut nicely with juicy raspberry tang. Great nuance and integration. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Just a little warmth in the finish, some present sweetness, and lots more blended cocoa and fleshy raspberry. Lovely gear.

Tap @ Wedge - pours pitch with a tan head. Big dark raspberries bordering on artificial for some reason. Its all dark chocolate & raspberries with this one.

On tap at source. Its unapologetically big, dark and bold. Fairly smooth with a full, satisfying mouthfeel. Raspberries come into play nicely at the end- not overpowering but certainly apparent. Nice tart addition. Still a fairly sweet overall impression but well done. Would drink this all winter.

On tap at the brewery, this pours pitch black with a huge frothy choco-tan head that leaves thick ring lacing. The nose is of fresh raspberries. Dark chocolate malts, light roasts, dark raspberry esters in the mouth finish with a creamy bitter chocolate. Poured on nitro, The body is silky smooth with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft carbonation with complexity for days. Absolutely great! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

My Bottom Line:
Raspberry syrup swims within this Imperial Stouts roasted malts, leading towards a bitter and sweet dessert.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the blackness.
-This is too carbonated for this type of flavor profile, in my tastes.
-This tastes like a typical overly sugary American truffle.
-The mouthfeel is rich but not heavy.

On tap at the brewery taproom.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with marshmallow, vanilla, alcohol warmth, very sweet. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light grassy hops, alcohol warmth, chocolate malt, pleasant. On tap at brewery.

Draft at the source during RBWG. Very dark brown color, brown head. Aroma of rich chocolate covered raspberry truffles. Taste is similar. Delicious.

Keg @ Wedge during RBWG, Asheville. Deep brown pour with a tight tan head. Wonderfully rich chocolate truffle cake drenched in raspberry coulis. Decadent flavor. Dessert in a glass. Chocolate malts, rich roast. Slightly tart dark fruits and wood. Smooth coffee creamer. Full body, rich. Overall, Foret Noire was very similar to this. Chocolate and tart dark fruits arent a novel matching of flavors, but damn it works.
