A deep brownish red beer with a thin bubbly brown head. The aroma is roasted and chocolaty malty. The flavor is very sweet malty with notes of brown sugar, metal, and nuts. But the body is a bit thin.

Bottle. Dark brown coloured with a beige head. Aroma of malts with notes of caramel. Flavour of malts with notes of caramel and hops. Suprisingly little taste in such a dark beer.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl). German version brewed by Anker Brauerei in Nagold at 4,7% ABV. Light brown, clear beer with a tight, beautiful, light brown head. Concerning the strength this is equal to an export, but it’s not particularly full-bodied. Instead quite an unusual sourness as the most distict characteristic. Apart from that quitesoft and not particularly bitter. Might bring a vague reminder of a Flemish sou. 020803

Bottle. Maroonish brown, clear. Inoffensive, easy to drink lager that appears darker than most. Light body. Ordinary.

It has a nice color, but it’s thin-flavored. The brewer seems like a great guy, but I wish he knew how to make better beer.

Lubiere (13566) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 5, 2011
A clear dark brown lager with a thin moka head. In aroma, caramel malt, non descript. In mouth, a boring caramel nut malt, so-so. On tap at Twin City Brewfest, August 13 2011.

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2010 Rerate on draft at Beer Run. Taste is nutty malty notes, a bit of a metallic note and raisins. Aroma of raisins and caramel. Medium bodied. Better than the old version, but still not too great. 5/3/6/3/12 16.9 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse. Dark brown pour with a very thin head. Overpowering caramel aroma with some grain and mocha notes. Taste is earthy with fruity esters, caramel and bitter coffee. Finish is a bit acrid and the body is a bit thin. A rollercoaster of a beer. 3/4/6/3/11

Tap at VA Beach Craft Beer Festival. Pours clear dark brown with a medium, fizzy light tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is chocolate and toast malt, light hops, and dark fruits (prune, raisin). Flavor is dark malt, light hops and bitterness, dark fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth.

Dogbrick (12633) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 21, 2010
Sample at the "Beer Tasting on the Front Porch". Pours dark brown with reddish highlights. Medium light tan head that recedes to a film eventually, and spotty lacing. Aroma of sour fruit and malt. Medium body with a tart mouth-puckering fruit flavor along with some earthy malt. The finish is fruity with a yeast and sour fruit aftertaste. Not sure what is going on with this one but it is not enjoyable.
