BBD April ’04! Clear copper/amber, nicely carbonated, leaves a smallish dimpled camel head with poor retention and no lace. Nutty, maple-y autumn aromas... pecan pie, butter cookies, baked yams. Malt flavor is scoured by tongue-nipping carbonation. Green apple and some distracting acidity. Mild, well-balanced bitterness. Silky mouthfeel. Aftertaste of challah bread and tannins. Nothing distinguishing about this brew. Typical for all microbrew lagers. Slightly bitter and tangy. Not very complex, but pretty drinkable. An average brew at best. crzybob77 (530) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JAN 12, 2005
Nice smooth and balanced malt flavors. No incredibly robust flavors here, just an enjoyable brew. Nothing wrong with a simple good beer. VA Homebrewer (525) - Portsmouth, Virginia, USA - MAY 7, 2001
I was fairly impressed with this beer in that I got more than I expected. As the name implies, it is amber in color with a slight malt aroma. The hop aroma is even more slight. Decent malt flavor, but lacking in mouthfell. Only slight bitterness, which I would expect. This doesn’t approach the complexity of a good marzen, but not bad. I should add a caveat - I don’t general like lighter lagers at all. mwelsh13 (499) - Maryland, USA - JUL 20, 2008
Pours a deep golden orange color with a light off white head. Some sour aroma. Sour flavor as well. Very little carbonation.

on tap. orange pour with a small white head. found it to be light on the malt flavor and aromas. daalamar (405) - new albany, Indiana, USA - SEP 1, 2002
Looks great with a good white head and a deep amber body, smells great with a creamy malty aroma and then taste like an old tin can. There is definatly something lacking in the taste of this beer which is a big let down because I liked their black raddish brew alot. pjk33 (390) - Sligo - Curllsville Heights, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 11, 2003
I have had this beer on tap, in bottles, and in the takeaway fresh kegs and really like it. It is not a heavy beer, but is refreshing with a nice creamy head and good bite. You can drink a lot which is good at the beach. Delbomber (387) - Philadelphia, USA - SEP 6, 2001
Clear amber with a yeasty aroma and watery, yeasty flavor. Soft bitter finish and subtle spiciness can not bring any life to this. Not terrible, just terribly boring.
