Our golden-yellow wheat beer, with its fine-pored white foam, smells of cloves and impresses consumers with its refreshing banana flavour. It is full bodied and with a smooth yeast taste. To be enjoyed at any time (always a pleasure / enjoyment), goes excellently with fish and seafood, with spicy cheese and especially with the traditional Bavarian veal sausage. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2011 12 oz bottle I believe. Aroma is very nice and yeasty. Taste is great. Smooth and refreshing and with great flavor. Second sample: liter with vi at the most fantasy German bar in NYC. Ours a deep amber body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is thick banana and clove. Mouthfeel is thick with notes of wheat, banana, clove, yeast, and spice.

Pint Bottle $2.99 Binnys Orland Park Hefes arent my favorite style but Ive been in the mood for one today and what better way to go than Weihenstephaner? Pours a hazy yeast laden golden. The entire glass fills with big carbonation bubbles that speed to the creamy bright white head that forms on the pour. Leaves moderate lacing after each sip. A very nice looking hefe. The smell is 100% hefe. The benchmark for others. Green bananas have a big spot in the aroma with clove coming in a close second, very spicy. Possibly some white pepper. Solid wheat twang backbone with a drop or two of lemon juice. Smells great. Flavor is spot on with the aroma. The banana is leaning more toward banana bread as opposed to green bananas. Clove with a twangy wheat backdrop and the lemon shows again.. Lighter bodied with a highly carbonated creamy mouthfeel. Very thirst quenching. On a warm summer day like today this is about one of the easiest drinkers to find. Thirst quenching and enjoyable. To me Weihenstephaner is the pinnacle all other hefes try and reach. Like I said not one of my favorite styles but when Im in the mood none are better than this. 7/16/07

The best German Hefe Ive had hands down. Aroma was a beautiful thick banana with a hint of lemon. Pour was a near perfect cloudy gold with an inviting 2 finger white head. But the taste...woah the taste. Sharp tartness and banana with heavy yeast tones and a delicious citrusy note. Very heavy carbonation...tongue biting carbonation I call it. Almost perfect!

Nice fruity aroma. Banana. A little citrus. Clove. Pours a nice hazy orange with a yellowish bubbly head. Flavor is wheat, yeast, fruity esters. Lemon and banana are extremely prevalent. It finishes with a nice lemon flavor and a spritzy carbonation. This is a nice hefe. Damn good.

Smells of yeast, fresh cut grass, mild wet pine, rust and ripe banana peel. Very cloudy, with a thick head and a lasting lace. Lots of carbonation. Tastes of yeast and hay with a nice grainy orange taste, all in appropriate harmony. Palate is a little shy, but that is the only setback.

Bottle, Aikmans. Cloudy yellow colour with a huge white head. Surprisingly clean, with citrus and some grass. Some spices, little yeast. Mouth is not too thick, not too light, just about right. Palate is fruity and lasting. Rather surprisingly good.

Bottle from HEB. Nice couldy golden color and a large white head. Nice carbonation and smooth flavor. This is the epitome of hefeweizen IMHO. Nice yeasty undertones with a good spicyness. Very drinkable, very clean flavor. I dont drink a lot of hefeweizen, but this certainly reminds me of what hefeweizen was when I lived in Germany.

bottle, huge frothy head, cloudy and golden color.... citrus and fruit tones.... Hefeweizen is not one of my favorite styles of beer - but this one was enjoyable in its appearance, and citrus aromas.
