COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our golden-yellow wheat beer, with its fine-pored white foam, smells of cloves and impresses consumers with its refreshing banana flavour. It is full bodied and with a smooth yeast taste. To be enjoyed at any time (always a pleasure / enjoyment), goes excellently with fish and seafood, with spicy cheese and especially with the traditional Bavarian veal sausage. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Yellow color, large white head. Aroma banana, wheat, yeast. Taste full of banana, most dominantly, cloves, citrus hint, high carbonation. Classical hefeweizen, but slightly better then others with more fuller body and better aftertaste.

From the tap at Restaurant Sperl, Vienna, Austria. Pours fairly hazy, shaded gold, with very fine white foam. Aroma is banana, fruity in general. Body is average, with moderate carbonation. Taste is sweet. Finish is relatively short.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2017 I must say this beer isn't the same as it was maybe five years ago. I don't know what has happened but it has totally changed.

It used to be a delicious, tightly carbonated, flavoursome and full bodied beer, with a refreshing fruity minerality. Now it is flabby, with a head like soap suds and the appearance and texture of washing up water. The flavour also seems on the sour side too and it just seems to be a shadow of what it was. Every bottle I have had in the past couple of years has been of substandard quality (but then admittedly the standard was extremely high).
Whatever production fault has ruined this beer and made it little more than a mediocre Heffe, where before it was simply the finest beer in the world, needs to be tracked down and reversed.

Not to say it's bad, it's just a bitter disappointment after all these years to find something else where quality has been allowed to deteriote. After nearly a thousand years too. Seems a darn shame.

Well balanced banana and clove in both aroma and taste. Pillowy head driven by carbonation. Golden colour with a yeasty haze. Creamy mouthfeel helped by head. Yeasty, doughy, mildly sweet finish. Classic example.

Light golden, hazy, small fluffy head. Aroma: bananas. Medium body, zesty, yeasty with more bananas. Sweet but a bit watery in the end. Good

There might be different versions of the beer. I had a pasteurized one - probably like all exported versions. And this beer is ridiculously overrated, one of the bad German beers and only popular because Weihenstephan has a brewing faculty and its international students promoted the beer all over the world. An example what marketing can do. It has a numb taste in comparison to non-pasteurized beers.

Pours hazy amber with coarse brownish head. There is some clover in the taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A pleasant aroma of white bread, bananas, a little yeast. Orange, cloudy beer with a small white foam. The taste is white bread, wheat, some fruit. Average body, pleasant carbonization, smooth.
