Our Korbinian, the full-bodied, dark Doppelbock with light brown foam, wins beer-lovers over with a balance of fruity hints of plums and figs, a dark malt aroma - reminiscent of toffee, nuts and chocolate. Its roasted flavour goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as venison and poultry. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Best beer Ive ever had. There may be better, but I havent had it. Enjoyed it cool, not cold, as thats how a dopplebock should be enjoyed. I just wish I could find more than a couple bottles at a time.

Bottle at home. Black-dark brown colour, with a medium brown head, that disappears quickly. Nose is nuts, roasted malts and slight booze. Taste is low bitterness. very light sweetness. Also some nutty notes. Medium carbonation. Nice!

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and mug served showing a clarified, darkest brown color, with ruby highlighting, a frothy layer of tan head froth, and foamy cling to the dots & dashes of lacing. The aroma was malty and toasty, with dark fruit as prune, and caramel sweetness. A bit less than medium bodied, with somewhat low carbonation, the taste was similar to the nose, with less dark fruit exposure, low bitterness, and sweetness that seemed to build as it warmed. Classic, and fairly tasty Doppel, but would have appreciated more body, livelier carbonation, and maybe some dryness to the finish.

Bottle recived in the European swap thanks to SinH4. Pours dark brown with a meidum sized beige head with fine retention and lace. Nose has chalc, minerals, banana, sulphur. Flavour has sulphur, minerals, banana, light caramel, green plants, wood, light metallic notes. Medium/full body, oily texture, fine carbonation, medium sweet with low bitterness. Dry and light acidic finish with roasted malt. Not as rich and full as I hoped and the metallic thing bothers me.

Pours a clear dark brown with reddish hues. Head of foam is off white and shrinks to a ring around the glass. Caramel and roasted malt in the nose. Deep whiffs reveal a fruity and perhaps a nutty character. Caramel, chocolate, toffee, a slightly tart fruitiness comes to my taste buds. Working in unison to make for a smooth and delicious beer. I have no idea how fresh the bottle is but the taste and smoothness of the body has me hooked. Excellent.

One of the best beers I have had. Very complex taste and aromas, lovely dark brown color ... whats not to like.

Bottle 50cl. Dark brown with a tiny off white head. Aroma of brown sugar and malts. Somehow it reminds me of wood too. The taste is mildly sweet and develops into a friendly bittersweet experience. Some tickling on the tongue from Co2.

500ml bottle from Saveur-Biere.fr. Pours deep dark brown with luscious tan head. Aroma is burnt sugar, caramel, dark malt. Taste is a good rich bock taste, raisins, burnt brown sugar, caramel, nutty malts. No particular Weihenstephaner yeast notes. Nice.
