Our Korbinian, the full-bodied, dark Doppelbock with light brown foam, wins beer-lovers over with a balance of fruity hints of plums and figs, a dark malt aroma - reminiscent of toffee, nuts and chocolate. Its roasted flavour goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as venison and poultry. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

From bottle. Aroma is sweet licorice. Flavor is very sweet, almost like that hispanic Malta non-alcoholic drink. Syrupy mouthfeel as well. A little spice as well. I dont taste as much depth as some others seem to be seeing. Still pretty good.

Pours with an attractive thin light brown foam. Color is cloudy Coca-Cola. Quite fresh aroma has mmmi and faint dried plum, raisins and dates. Some cooked flour. Palate is well balanced, although quite yeasty and floury. Taste is bready and rich in dark malts. The finish has a long lasting bitternerness and dryness. Quite interesting. Ive known Weihenstephaner only from their wheat beers, but this displays that the brewery is versed in other beer styles as well. The Korbinian retains qualities familiar from Weihenstephaners wheat beers (like smoothness and elegant taste and aroma), but does in a different style. I find that the Korbinian is not that enjoyable (even if its a good beer) on its own, but I imagine that it would be amazing when paired with the proper foods.

Such a great beer that I actually enjoyed the otherwise uncouth act of burping this beer up as a second opportunity to enjoy it!

Ar: Fairly clean; some raisins and toast; a very refined, dried-flower aroma. Ap: Deep chestnut red; clear; medium light tan head with moderate-low retention, leaves a motley collection of tiny, small, and medium bubbles. T: Deep, rich maltiness with a very clean background alcohol impression; clean toast and raisins; silky, cake-like sweetness; relatively low but firm bitterness. P: Medium body with very high carbonation, lending a mostly creamy texture; finish is medium-dry. O: Rich and full, a big doppelbock with a lot of flavor; the heat is a bit too noticeable at times; good, clean yeast profile, really letting the malt and body shine.

From Decervecitas. In Bavaria glass. Watching Los Soprano 6x14-15. My favourite doppelbock with difference. Perfect feel. Brown sugar, caramel, toffe, figs, all in perfect armony, in just the adequate amount

.5 L brown bottle in a lager glass. Dark red-brown body with excellent clarity and a good, light brown head. Medium-full-body with near medium carbonation. Aroma: dark dried fruits, toffee and some alcohol esters. Flavor: hints of dried plums and figs, toffee, roasted nuts, brown bread and chocolate. Approaches 8. Overall: a standard bearer for the style.

500ml bottle pours cola brown with deep red tones and a thin off-white head. Aromas of chocolate, caramel malt, dark fruits and bourbon. Flavours of roast malt, brown sugar, cola, molasses and herbal characters. Skilful balance of sweetness, saltiness and bitterness.

500 ml bottle. Pours a mahogany brown color topped by a large, dense tan head. Wonderful roasted malt nose has notes of dark toffee, baked beans, brown bread and toasted pecans. First sip is sweet roasted malt, more toffee, dried dark fruit and toasted pecans. Rich and flavorful, with subtle herbal hops in the smooth complex finish.
