Sample at Whole Foods Market. Pours a clear pale gold color with a thin white head and fair lacing. Wheaty aroma along with a noticeable banana smell. Medium-bodied and smooth with flavors of wheat, banana and light spice. The finish is clean, wheaty and a little watery. Light spice and wheat aftertaste. Fairly enjoyable overall. jetzler (622) - oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA - JUN 23, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2006 Bottle 45F Weizen Glass. Very fruity aroma with good amounts of yeast. Very big citrus aroma, maybe a touch of soapiness. A wonderful light golden color with tons; and I mean tons of bubbles that rush towards to top at fantastic speeds it is nearly hynotizing. A great white head that is constantly replinished by the multitude of speedy bubbles. Flavor is of citus, and wonderful sour breads similar to blackforrest bread in its sourness, Great taste very fantastic, sweet and sour but finishes dry leaving you wanting more. Palate is smaller but with a huge amount of carbonation, this beer is still bubbling away. Easily quaffable, perfect for that worker who ends his day hot and thirsty. I can;t think of a cleaner or more refreshing taste, this is your hot weather beer. Ganz gut. iowaherkeye (2703) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - JUN 11, 2006
16.9oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear light golden with a large white head. Aroma of metal, banana, powdered sugar and bubblegum, and dust. Taste is very metallic and dusty, getting a little in the way of the banana nad wheat, though not quite. Some lemon in there somewhere too. I didn’t figure the kristall would be better than the hefe, and was correct. Not bad, not terribly wonderful, either. A little too carbonated, light bodied, though not watery. I was expecting to be let down by this "new" style that was purchased solely for that reason (and to fill an online shopping cart up to an even 12). However, this came out prety darned good. The nice light crystal clear golden yellow color with bubbles steadily rising to the top was beautiful in my Weihenstephan Weizen glass. The initial head was too much for the bottle to fit quickly into the 0.5L glass, and the head lasted the whole drink, although at a thinner level than the initial showing. Lacing was low to average. The aroma was somewhat American wheaty (musty?) with bananas and spices coming through. The flavor was excellent with bananas and cloves over top of the mildly citrus wheat base. Mouthfeel was light to moderate and this was a very nice summer beer. Good stuff, even without that lovely cloudy hefe appearance.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours yellow with a white head. Aroma of sweet malts, yeast, and slight bitterness Great smell. Flavor is fruit, citrus, sweet, and spices. ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - MAY 25, 2006
Pours incredibly clear pale straw with an enormous white head. The head fades, but leaves plenty of lace behind. Big bubblegum, banana and clove nose. The flavor is loaded with bubblegum, some clove and light lemon. The malt is light, but some sweet breads. Medium/light body with biting carbonation. (500 ml bottle: $2.99 at Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA) I didn’t expect much from this Kristallweizen, not because it’s Weihenstephaner, but because I haven’t found one in the style that I liked so far. Until now, that is. Very pleasant spice and moderate banana immediately set the tone early, and I can’t stop myself from just sucking this first pint down like I’m dying of thirst. It’s mildly sweet and shows no bitterness at all. I think the beer tastes better when it’s cold because I’m finding that as it warms up, the breadiness of the malt is coming out more and slowly pushing aside the wonderful spice, banana and bubblegum that I was digging earlier. Spice and bubblegum aromas mimic the flavor. Body is light-medium, with significant levels of carbonation keeping the palate refreshed and the stomach burpy. Relatively clear, yellow body is capped by well over an inch of bubbly, white head. Retention is above average as the head maintains a thin layer for most of the session. Lacing is patchy. Easily the best Kristallweizen I’ve tried, though admittedly I haven’t tried all that many. Tranquillity (2463) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 24, 2006
Wonderful appearance. Big, fluffy, long-lasting white head. The golden shade is so pale it’s almost not to be seen at all. The aroma is incredibly strong - the strongest I’ve even encountered in a wheat beer - and smelling of crisp.... well... wheat beer. The taste is full. The aftertaste long. A fine beer I will surely return to. dkoonce (911) - People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA - MAY 20, 2006
Pale and hazy with a thick whte head. The aroma is sweet and fruity, and very wheaty. Light, dry and very drinkable (and I’m not a wheat beer fan).
