4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
It pours a light yellow and gives a nice one inch foamy white head in my weizen glass. The head dies down to a light cling film over top of the body. Some light carbonation is seen rising. The smell has the yeast up front with big wheat malt coming through as the beer warms. Some light clove makes a slight presence in the smell as well. The taste is balanced between sweet and bitter through the "kristal" malts and previously mentioned flavors. The aftertaste has an acceptable wheat bite. The palate is medium with some harshness on the tongue. It leaves a sticky finish. It is mostly drinkable. Overall, this is good for its style and good for me, however, probably better in the summer.
Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours clear golden. Nose is malty, sweet banana, yeast, light sweet spices and herbs. Tastes sweet malts, banana and yeast esters, cloves, wheat, hay. Jerre (3688) - Waregem, BELGIUM - AUG 15, 2017

Draught @ Braustuberl Weihenstephan, Freising. Pours clear yellow with a white head. Aroma of wheat, grain, sweet fruit, banana, little citrus. Flavor is malt, wheat, fruit, banana, citrus. Medium body, average to lively carbonation. 300717 HomeWaters (17) - Illinois, USA - AUG 4, 2017
This is my second Weihenstephaner beer. Second beer is like the first in the sense that the aroma and taste are intense and unique. Put aside the commercial description. It tastes to me like der Biermeister took a wheat beer, went over to his cast iron skillet of wurst and sauerkraut drippings, poured in a teaspoon per liter, then filtered into the bottle before capping and resting. Really. Perfect accompaniment for a wurst-based meal. But even before the first flame lit on the stove top, I could smell and taste the wurst and kraut. thejackpacker (486) - East Sussex, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2017
Bottle from beer supermarket near Hamburg. I was quite ignorant of the difernece between kristall and hefeweizen but this beer helped me understand the difference. I much prefer the unfiltered version. The alcohol is a bit blunter here and the finish less smooth. Fine but ive me a hefe anyday. Maits (522) - ESTONIA - JUL 21, 2017
