COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In our golden-yellow crystal-clear wheat beer the fresh citrus flavour harmonises very well with spicy banana notes. The fine sparkling gives it a tangy and animated appearance. Throughout summer and winter, it’s a prickling experience. It goes well with fish, seafood, white meat or it can be enjoyed as an aperitif. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

2 x geproefd. laatste keer mei 2016 fles 50 cl van Schotte. Beetje wazig goudblond bijna oranje bier, met royale witte kraag. Aroma: gist, banaan, mout. Medium body. Smaak: granig, gist, zoetje, kruidig, banaan, mini bitterheid. Toch smaakvol in zijn genre.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2017 50cl bottle, thanks to German ESSS17 Santa. Clear light golden color with white head. Aroma has banana and hay. Taste is clear wheat with lingering banana flavour. Very good if not the best commonly available filtered german wheat beer.

This is my second Weihenstephaner beer. Second beer is like the first in the sense that the aroma and taste are intense and unique. Put aside the commercial description. It tastes to me like der Biermeister took a wheat beer, went over to his cast iron skillet of wurst and sauerkraut drippings, poured in a teaspoon per liter, then filtered into the bottle before capping and resting. Really. Perfect accompaniment for a wurst-based meal. But even before the first flame lit on the stove top, I could smell and taste the wurst and kraut.

Bottle from beer supermarket near Hamburg. I was quite ignorant of the difernece between kristall and hefeweizen but this beer helped me understand the difference. I much prefer the unfiltered version. The alcohol is a bit blunter here and the finish less smooth. Fine but ive me a hefe anyday.

L: -pours a clear straw golden with a medium to big, foamy, white head -medium to high carbonation visible S: -banana,white bread, doughy, honey, clove, hay T: -banana,white bread, doughy, citrus, fish, salty, grainy, herbal F: carbonation -light to medium body O: A pretty big downgrade from their Hefeweizen. The finish is really weird.Up until then it’s decent. The Kristallweizen from Paulaner, Franziskaner or Maisel are superior to this.
