TAR (2802) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - APR 18, 2017
Draft: Clear sunflower gold. Wispy white foam. Dirty aroma of unspent malt, grape candy, beeswax, lemon curd. Light notes of concrete, popcorn and flowers. Tight carbonation. Dry and mineral-charged on initial sip, with equally stiff maltiness lending excellent structure to the admirably lean body. Quickly spoiling things is a strong note of chalky grape candy, and some huskiness is detected as well. Gravelly yeast and a touch of DMS (cauliflower) plagues the cleanness late. What the malt lacks in depth makes up for it with its vivid definition and assertive snappiness. A smattering of sweet Hallertau-derived nectar and honeysuckle lend some succulence in the dry and balanced, yet DMS- and vanilla-taffy-tainted, closing. Note of creamed corn lingers. Something is very amiss with this and I’m curious how the brewers are satisfied with the end result. For one, there’s a raw grain character that mars the aroma, and the fermentation has some issues with the grape, gravel and DMS notes. Lengthy lagering time or not, this needs some serious fine-tuning in order to be enjoyable like I remember it being some years ago. wombat23 (2137) - Texas, USA - APR 16, 2017

Sampled at the Bräustüberl Weihenstephan.

Pint at the Grandview Theater on 3/26/17. Pours clear gold with a thick white head. Aroma of malt, crisp lager yeast and berry (guessing that is not really the beer, but the lines at this place?). Sweet malt flavor with a crisp lager yeast finish. vipinvelp (4580) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - APR 4, 2017
Clear yellow, white lacing foam head. Barley aroma and typical weak taste for this style. Nothing wrong with this beer, it is what it is. (Velp 201704)

tfontana (1184) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 17, 2017
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is mostly clear golden yellow with light floaties, trace sparkle, ring of white head and trace lacing. Aroma is strong skunk over cracker pilsner malts. Taste is strong cracker malts fading into skunkland. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and cracker/skunk finish. Overall, would be a pretty middle of the road beer if not for the skunk, which drags it down further. Ronritter (875) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - FEB 26, 2017
12 oz bottle light gold color with a medium white head. Aroma is malt and grassy hops. Taste is malty with dry finish. graziano85 (479) - Budapest, HUNGARY - FEB 19, 2017
Blond color with a medium compact head, getting smaller but staying. Aroma is malt and grassy hops. Taste is malty, nice, with a correct bitterness for a helles. Dry finish.
They are famous for the weizen beers, but now I know they also have a good helles.
