A good beer takes its time. The long storage makes our yellow bright lager, “Original”, a flavourful beer enjoyed with fine pored, white foam. With a mild hoppy note and its pleasant fresh spicy taste, it goes very well with salads, poultry, stews or with a hearty snack. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

From a 330 ml bottle. Pours a clear light golden color with an ample thick white head. Moderate carbonation. Smells of sweet carmel, bread, and hay. Taste is dominated by sweet carmel and bread-like malt flavors with very slight hoppiness to it. Mostly sweet finish. A little less hop character than I would expect. A decent session beer but a little sweeter than I would like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle from Hi-Time Wine Cellars, Costa Mesa, California. As I said on my Pilsner rating, it seems strange that I have to come all the way out to the Californian coast to find a Bavarian beer after so many trips to that part of Germany over the years. Just like the Pilsner before it, I poured the beer into a Lowenbrau (Munchen) stemmed tulip on 4th Jan 2018, sat in the afternoon sun at my daughters place. Clean golden pour, clear and bright, white crown on top. Much preferred this to the Pilsner I had before this. Just seems more balanced, more wholesome and flavoursome. Light on the hops, the pale malts rule the nose and taste with the hops keeping the sweetness in check. Liked it.

Clear golden appearance - nice carbonation. Yeasty mild banana / bubblegum aroma . Subtle foretaste, with a balanced mild bitter sweet aftertaste. Nice malt taste. Well made beer - refreshing, clean taste. Good example of a Helles

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste mildly sweet, crisp, superior lager. I thought this was very good. I would definitely drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smells like traditional beer, smells like a traditional beer. Taste like a good German beer unlike most normal American beers. It taste extremely smooth for the higher alcohol content. doesn’t taste like it has a high alcohol content that it does. It will sneak up on you. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours very clear, light blonde. Small white head, much lacing. Smell is bit malty, not super intense. Taste is full, rather thick body for a lager, bit sweet, crisp malts, some minor hoppy notes. Creamy, malty ending

From the 550 ml. bottle marked 5077-12:06:49. It pours a bright yellow color with a modest foamy white head that lingers and laces as it fades. Sunlight clarity. Aroma of dough, white bread, brown sugar, sweet malts, grass, and lemon zest. Desirable to drink. The body is light to medium but closer to the latter and smooth. It is a very tasty beer with a sweet breadiness and a clean, crisp, and mildly hopped finale. Easy to drink.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2017 On tap at Tap’d, PA hotel. Translucent straw yellow with thin head that laced a bit. Malt aroma with a hint of bubble gum. Smooth taste and mild finish with a touch of spice.

Awesome German beer. A little hops to offset the malt, but not so much as to make it garbage (like so many USA "crafties). They have been making this for over a 1,000 years, it looks like they know what they are doing. Wonderful. Nice site, so glad to see a site interested in beer reviews and not all the "fruits and nuts" found with a lot of beer drinkers today (as is found on some sites that claim to be your "advocate") who seem to only care that the beer has 150 other odd items added to the beer to make it "taste better". No thanks. May I have an actual beer and not some mix of spices and pine branches???
