3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reviewed 12/23/2012. 11.2 oz bottle into a pilsner glass.
A: Pours a medium straw color with great clarity. The head is a two finger white color with nice retention. The head retains more strongly away from the glass, creating a ’floater’...usually a sign of a hoppy beer. Intrigued!
S: Very well hopped, which I always like. Tons of grassy, zesty noble hops overpower - in a good way - the pale malts.
T: Light malt sweetness gives way to pure grassy hop goodness. Simple, but it works here. The only real complaint I have is that the finish isn’t quite as balanced as I like. As such, it’s a bit less drinkable than it could be. Having said that, it grows on me.
M: The carbonation grants this a coarse, tingly sensation on the palate. It’s not entirely bone dry on the finish, either. If anything, it’s more a pils to savor, rather than one to chug.
O: I feel that pilsners - when they’re done well - provide a great example of simple refreshment in lieu of water. This is one I feel that stacks up nicely. It strikes a middle ground between the intensity of Prima Pils and the delicacy of Pilsner Urquell.
330 ml bottle from Hi-Time Wine Cellars, Costa Mesa, California. Seems strange that I have to come all the way out to the Californian coast to find a Bavarian beer after so many trips to that part of Germany over the years. Anyway I poured it into a Lowenbrau (Munchen) stemmed tulip on 4th Jan 2018, sat in the afternoon sun at my daughters place. Clear golden pour, snow white head. Hop lead in both the nose and taste giving a bitter brew with a light malt underbelly. Actually I thought this a bit weak flavour wise and similar to some cheap Pilsners I have tried (think St Pauli Girl). Luckily the Weihenstephaner Original that followed was more to my liking. Bottle at Old Chicago.
Pours a clearish straw gold with plenty of foam that's fairly long lasting.
Smells noble hop bitterness with cracker malt and a fine spiciness.
Tastes ever so like the smell. Love the hop and malt profiles. Everything I desire in a German Pils!
Near perfect mouthfeel.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2017 Great pilsner with a clear golden colour malty aroma. Tastes very refreshing hotstuff (5278) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 24, 2017
Rated on 11-23-2017. Bottle. The appearance is a medium sized semi-fizzy pure white head that is mostly lasting, transparent bright yellow body, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is grainy, light perfume, grassy, pale malt, and bread. The flavor presents some grain, spicy, slightly bitter, lightly sweet, malt, and clean tasting. The mouthfeel is soft carbonation and clean. This beer is light-medium bodied. This beer is very easy drinking and a refreshing thirst quencher. This is a beer that I might purchase more of to have on hand. SudsMcDuff (8538) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - NOV 17, 2017
single bottle from beers looking .. light gold .. medium foam .. standard grass hay .. quite nice, a pleasant brew, but a quick forgettable one .. . . one day i'll buy a pocketwatch and then lose it one night drinking.

12floz, no date, $2 single, pint glass. Skunked beer, but I review them as I get 'em. Straw in color, light and gritty. Beyond the skunkiness, this seems to be a decent brew. So I'll cut the point deduction in half to reflect quality if it was fresher. Beer should have clear dating! I would have passed knowing otherwise, especially considering the style. It does improve despite age as it airs out, and decent qualities are better detected. Maracuja05 (2050) - Mainz, Rineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - NOV 11, 2017

Bottle. Light golden, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty - lightly grainy and dryish - lightly sweetish aroma, light bread and light - some grassy/herbal hoppyness. Body is light to medium, malty - lightly grainy and dryish - lightly sweetish, faint bread and light grassy/herbal hoppyness. Finish is average, malty - lightly grainy and dryish - lightly sweetish, light - some grassy/herbal hoppyness. Decently hopped but could be drier. Steffan (109) - WALES - OCT 7, 2017
Grassy aroma. 1.5 finger head. Good lacing. Thin malt base to let the slightly bitter hops through. Refreshing and moreish. A pleasant lingering bitterness on the palate. Beer doesn't get much better than this. Cunningham (8526) - Halden, NORWAY - SEP 28, 2017
Shining golden color with a fine white head. Nice mellow malty aroma. Medium body and smooth carbonation level. Balanced sweetness. Felt like a powerful Czech lager. Mellow malty, mild fruity and mild herbal flavor. Lovely refreshing stuff.
