COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our reddish brown dark lager “Tradition” with its mild aroma of hops smells like roasted malt and impresses with its sweet caramel flavor which is followed by a slight bitterness. Goes well with hearty dishes, such as roasts, poultry and game. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

0.5 l bottle from Alko (tasted May 12, 2017). Appearance is brown, clear and small head. Taste is, as expected, malty. There is chocolate but also some liquorice. Kind of similar to Altbier, but more crisp, clean and less complicated since this is bottom fermented. Quite OK for a dark lager.

Very dark and clear amber colour with an inch of foamy, tan head. Massive malt on the nose with roasty, caramel flavours. Light bitterness, medium to high carbonation.

Keg @Weihenstephan Bräustüberl, Freising. 03-08-2016.
Pours quite dark amber with frothy off white head. Moderate head retention, good lacing. Buttery, caramel, licorice nose. Light body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is quite sweet, caramel, toffee, little roasty notes.

jookos (6743) - FINLAND - DEC 28, 2016
Bottle (alko). Amber reddish, clear appearance. Quite freshish malty, sort of autumnal red dried berries, some nuttyness, dry, or dried, bittered toffee. Med bodied, easy drink, balanced. Malty. Not sure what to say. This is just an inch away from a boozy, or dull, eastern european amber lager. To be frank, blindly tasted, theres a 50-50 chance I wouldve just sniffed and dumped it. Respect the brewery tho. And aware of how shallow these ratings are. Glad to have given it the time, enjoy the clean, still kinda lively feeling maltyness.

Pullo @ Alko. Kaatuu lasiin vaalean kolanruskeana ja kirkkaana, noin kahden sormen paksuisella vaahdolla. Tuoksussa on leipäistä (paikoin paahdettua ruisleipää, paikoin limppua) maltaisuutta, luumuisuutta, maamaisuutta sekä makeaa hieman paahteista sokerisuutta. Maussa hivenen paahteinen sokerisuus on vahvinta, pähkinääkin on reippaasti.
