Bottle - Dark copper/red with beige head. medium carbonation with thing to medium body. Sweet malty caramel flavour with a bit of hops giving a lightly bitter finish. jkm (235) - AUSTRALIA - APR 13, 2008
Clear and dark reddish brown in colour with a thin off-white head. Low to average carbonation. Sweet, caramel and malty aroma and flavour. Some bitterness, dry finish. Quite nice. 500ml bottle. masto (77) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 12, 2008
Dark brown with beige head. Roasty caramel, chocolate, malty aroma. Some hop bitterness in the malty, chocolate taste. Dry slightly sour finish. Annoying carbonation (typical to the brewery) almost spoils this otherwise good and balanced product. HughConway (831) - Washington, USA - APR 11, 2008
Bottle. Pours dark brown with nice head. Nice malt aroma. Nice dunkel flavor. Solid. JoeinDahlem (1521) - Berlin, GERMANY - APR 1, 2008
Thanks to my man Philipp for this nice brew. Half-liter bottle pours a typical dark brown with decent beige head, receding to persistent layer. Even when chilled, beer offered a big, chocolate-malty nose. The flavor brought character, refreshment and balance... lightly sweet and bready maltiness, lightly roasted, lightly bitter. Plenty of flavor yet nothing sticks out. A touch on the fizzy side, but not overly so. A simple beer, but someone on the front end of it really knew what they were doing.

Bottle. Pours a nice deep amber-brown colour with a big well lasting off-white creamish head. Aroma of roasted caramel, soft roasty malt and some dark bread. Good mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet with roasty malt, roasty caramel, some bitter hops, bread and some brown sugar. ekstedt (6773) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - FEB 3, 2008
Bottle at the Rover, Göteborg, Sweden. Deep copper with a medium off-white head. Caramelly malt aroma with notes of burnt sigar and earthy hops. Ligth to medium body. Well balanced with a dry finish. wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 31, 2007
Pours a clear, iced-tea hue with a medium, foamy, white head. The aroma is bizarrely similar to iced tea as well. Sugary, a little toffee, very bready and grainy. Slim, earthy hops. Flavour is quite similar to the aroma; starts lightly sweet and grows drier with each sip due to moderate astringency. Medium-light body; watery texture; fizzy, annoying carbonation. Grainy, astringent, watery...not the best effort I’ve had from this brewery. gam (3924) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - DEC 30, 2007
Pours good head,very dark red/brown colour.Medium carb,head is lasting,aroma mild coffee,malt,hoppy.Flavour a bit metallic,cooked flavours,nutty finish is sweet tangy,not their best. blackbock (132) - Shoalhaven NSW, AUSTRALIA - DEC 24, 2007
A strong caramel aroma upon opening, good carbonation level which faded to slight lacing on the glass. Deep copper-red colour. Probably a slightly higher alcohol level than I expected, but clean on the palate. Body a little thin. This one was quite disappointing, I was expecting something bigger and better from the "älteste Brauerei der Welt."
