Our light-coloured, spicy single-bock, “Vitus” is saturated with fine yeast and a creamy foam. It is a specialty with a round character based on the extra long storage time. The fruity smell of dried apricots joins aromas of citrus, cloves and hints of banana. Full-bodied and sparkling with an effervescent mouthfeel. Thus, the Vitus does not taste like a typical Bock beer but more like a noble, fruity wheat beer. Perfect with red meat, strong cheese and also able to guide desserts. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

A very good beer in the same category as the Aventinus. Great quality, great aroma. A must try. That was part of my LCBO Fall 2017 Program. Took it yesterday as a volleyball pre-game warmer.

Quite disappointing. I bought this TONIGHT at an LCBO (Niagara Falls, ON). It was discounted, so I knew that I should drink it soon (and have a second bottle). I thought the initial aroma was a little off. While drinking it, it seemed like a pretty full-bodied weizenbier (maybe a bit more intense than usual). But the real problem was the long-lingering, rather nasty cardboard flavour, a sign of oxidation and staleness. It is a style which is best drunk while fresh, but the "best before" date on the back is 04/11/2018 (Apr. 11, 2018, I think). (I'd suggesting moving toward a clearer date, i.e. Apr. 11, 2018 if it can be managed in international markets). My initial thought was that the LCBO was to blame (they often are due to their poor management of beer inventory), but I note that the second bottle has at least an inch of ullage.

50cl bottle split with Inga, thanks to Gyhallmanti. Appearance: hazy yellowish golden with medium, pillowy, white head with decent retention. Aroma: clove, nutmeg, banana, spice. Taste: high sweetness and medium bitterness. Notes of banana, clove, nutmeg, spice, sweet malts. Palate: medium bodied, silky texture and medium carbonation.

Score: 8 / 4 / 7 / 4 / 16

Draught at BKL 2018.
Orange, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, lacing, slightly yellow head.
Aroma of banana, vanilla, wheat, dried fruits, moderate spices, some grains, some bread.
Tastes similar, with the spices a bit more prominent.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes medium spicy, medium sweet, a bit dry, wheaty, bready, with some banana, slight dried fruits.

Lovely, classic example of the style, greatly balanced and quaffable. The taste lacks the last bit though for me, that I can't appoint. Overall not my favourite Weizenbock, but worth its reputation.

Pours a bright, cloudy yellow with a full white head that slowly settles. The aroma consists of wheat, yeast, spices, and banana. The taste is dry and is just a touch tart. A few sweet hints also. It has an initial burst of lemon, while a heavy wheat is found throughout. Some healthy floral hops, banana, and some mild Belgian yeast and spice complete this one. Short aftertaste is wheat and banana. Light to medium in body and with a smooth texture. Very easy drinking here, and it really doesn't give any impressions that its almost 8%. Very solid.

Bottle, 0.5l. Hazy orange pour, two finger frothy head, slightly off-white. Long lasting, excellent retention. Nice thick lacing as it goes down. Yeast, wheat and lime on the nose. Clean and refreshing. Thin to medium body. Medium but somewhat prickly carbonation. Light texture, easily drinkable. Taste combines the fruity tart with slight hop bitterness. Nicely balanced. Aroma of wheat and grains, grassy notes, lime and herbs. Slight caramel in the background. Spicy, dusty mouthfeel. Hops in the background, a bit dry. Well hidden alcohol. Overall, tasty and refreshing. Clean and crisp, somewhat simple but well executed brew. Good one.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2018 Pivo u flaši. Kome se sviđa aroma 'Njemačkih banana' bit će oduševljen ovim pivom! :) Pivo je slatkasto i lagano citrično, hmelj se vrlo malo osjeti. Nice Beer :)
