3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
50 cl bottle @ Timo A, BBE 07.11.2012
Aroma is slightly sweet with honey and hints of sugar. Flavour has honey, grassy hops and hints of grainy malt. Good heller bocks are rather rare, but this is one of them. I like the grassy notes here.
Antrunk ist kräftig malzig mit Honignoten, leicht gehopft. Schmeckt ein bisschen wie kalter Met. Ganz schön süffig für ein Bockbier. MartinT (9880) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 30, 2017
My Bottom Line:sir__v (2629) - FRANCE - JAN 29, 2017
Honeyed pale malts ride this Heller Bock’s frothy bubbling from beginning to end.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sizeable head of foam tops the translucent golden.
-The flavour profile is simple and efficient. Perhaps too linear for my tastes in the style.
-Mouthfeel and flavour clarity are elegant.
-The finish is on the sweet side, perhaps underhopped.
-Mild alcohol warmth appears in the back.
Bottle from Geers, Gent - BE. Color: hazy dark golden blond beer with small carbonation and medium white foam. Smell: sweet and malt domination, candied fruit notes. Taste: medium body with caramel malt, sweet candied notes. Fruity and candied fruits. Very complex bock, and looks like a belgian tripel, very interesting. Good attenuation and drinkable. Aftertaste: sweet ester. Really nice! Caramel malt. SaintMatty (7364) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JAN 11, 2017
500ml Bottle - Golden with a slight haze and a white head. Bread, citrus and some earthy notes in the aroma. Malty and bready taste with lemon, lime, white bread and some yeasty notes. A hint of bubblegum can be detected in the finish. ThirstyBird (2925) - Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2017
Thanks to koelschtrinker for sharing this bottle. Pours a slightly haze golden yellow color with a big off-white head. The smell is sour mash, caramel, toasted malt. The taste is very sweet caramel, a bit of hops and a touch of coconut while ending dry. Medium in body with silky carbonation.

Flip-top 500ml bottle; BBD 10th Apr 17. Poured into a tall, handled glass at home on 28th Oct 16. Clear light amber with a full and lasting white head. This is malty and fairly sweet from start to finish. Caramel and toffee notes in both the aroma and taste lead the way throughout. A bit one dimensional, even for my sweet tooth. Basically, not as exciting or interesting as I hoped, but nothing bad or wrong with it, and true to style, if a little sweeter than most. Torrefacto (1675) - Madrid, SPAIN - JUL 6, 2016
Ámbar limpio y espuma blanca. Aroma y saborde caramelo, azúcar, ligero alcohol, final seco. Swaroga (2217) - Warszawa, POLAND - JUL 4, 2016
50cl bottle. Delicatly cloudy piss like yellow with small head but good lacing. The beer has a weak aroma overall. Mostly grainy with mineral and yeasty notes. A bit of sugar, sweet cheese, banana and some delicate orange. Taste is medium sweet like bread with banana, a bit dry like hay and delicate bitter finish. Nothing exciting there. tderoeck (9701) - Gent, BELGIUM - JUN 30, 2016
