COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Things that have meaning: Life, the universe and saison! Saison 42 is a French style, mostly harmless farmhouse ale, orange in colour and hopped with Bobec. Dry and refreshing and a great match to many foods. If you are new to this style you might say that it is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike beer. You would be wrong, this is the style that traditionally was brewed by farmers during the winter to be enjoyed in the summer after those long hard days of work. Batch 0008 Best served cold on a hot sunny day. Share and Enjoy!

Mmm, yeasty, belgian blonde nose. Pours a hazy, muddy copper with a fluffy white head. Mouthfeel is very carbed and a bit astringent. Flavour, however, is rich and fresh with fruity overtones of figs, spice and lemon juice. However, at the end of the day, saisons, though trendy, are just too volatile, too carby, to be much good. Usually. And this one is no different. Nice, but not quite there.

500ml bottle [Gusher! Another bottle even exploded while being stored]. Cloudy amber colour with huge, frothy, diminishing, moderately lacing, white head. Fruity aroma has notes of orange, mandarine, minimally peppery, spicy yeasty overtones. Taste is fruity hoppy, notes of orange, mandarine, a dry touch of fruit parings, some fruit acid, some caramel malt in between, minimally grassy overtones; lively carbonation.

Some preserved lemons, a little pithy. Soft in mouth, furry its tasty stuff. Speedy rating as Craig pouring next one. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.7

Draught @ BAJT. Pours tiny hazy amber with a frothy and tiny fizzy amberish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of lacing on the glass. Smell is tiny fruity, tiny malty and phenolic with crackers, biscuits, pears, plums, grapes, moist wood, cereal, sweet dark bread, dry soil, black currant leaves, lemon zest, glue and moist hay. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, tiny fruity and phenolic with crackers, biscuits, pears, overripe apples, plums, lemon zest, sheet metal, overripe black currants, dry soil and moist wood. Mouthfeel is round, tiny astringent, soft and medium bodied. Finish is bitter and phenolic with crackers, biscuits, plums, lemon juice, moist wood, hay, black pepper corns, grape skins, St Johns wort, grass and clovers. Strange but pretty good.

500ml bottle. Pours deep copper with a large off-white head. Zesty uncomplicated aroma. Malt and grain flavours, sharp fruit, zest, floral perfume, sour sherbet, grass. Moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied with explosive carbonation that settles as the beer rests in the glass. Pretty nice.

Bottle at home in London - picked up the Kris Wines. Pours mostly clear chestnut gold, with delicate effervescence and a lively, frothy off-white head. The aroma holds lots of doughy bread, some mashed ripe bananas, hints of orange, yeast. The flavor is medium sweet with plenty more bready malts, a bit of yeasty dough, lightly toasted hay, ripe bananas, subtle cereal, faint citrus peel. Light to medium bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Sweet finish, some lightly sugary and doughy bread, suggestions of alcohol, touches of banana and bubblegum, slight bitter toasted hay. Nicely balanced. Fairly refreshing. Well executed for the style.

Draught at Bishops Arms Järntorget, Gothenburg. Somewhat hazy copper/amber beer with a nice white head. Fruity citrus aroma, peach, perfume, caramel, some hay. Sweetish caramel flavor, spicy, hay, floral, grass. A bit too sweet to really suit me.
