COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Scottish Wee Heavy with added honey. Thirteen different grains adding layers of complexity, peated malts bringing tobacco notes. Caramel, chocolate and dark fruit flavours balance the smokiness for a tea-like bitterness.

330ml bottle. Pours a deep ruby/amber/copper colour with a beige head. Aroma is smokey, peat, dark/dried fruits. Taste is sweet with dark/dried fruits, smokey, peaty, oaky, notes of chocolate, caramel and honey. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, average carbonation.

Pours a very dark red, with a light tan head. Smells of cherry, plum, ripe nectarine, damp wood. Similar in the taste with some nice smokey hints, a bitter spice, very slight alcohol, which is nice and warming. Lovely medium to full bodied, medium low carbonation. Overall a really great beer, nice woody, smoky, fruity, spicy and warming. Good stuff! Another goodun’ from weird beard!

Pours brown with a short lived tan head. Aroma is mainly rolling tobacco with some peat. Flavour is much the same with an underlying sweetness. It’s a lovely peaty flavour.

I would have thought this would have scored higher... deep ruby beer with a short-lived tan head. Flavour is rich caramel, sweet honey, peat and smoke. Dried fruits and tobacco... smooth and easy drinking. Lovely.

Bottle at The Bottle Lab, Leek. Pours a deep ruby brown colour with a medium tan head. Aroma of caramel, wood, dark fruits, chocolate, some smoke, peat, slight nuts, a little honey and subtle biscuit. Taste of caramel, dark fruits, wood, smoke/peat, some honey, slight chocolate, a little dried fruits, a hint of chilli and subtle biscuit. Medium to full bodied and soft carbonation. A bittersweet, dried fruit, smoky bitterness in the finish. Very complex, smoky but not overpowering and honeyed and fruity sweetness running throughout. So smooth too. Very good.

Clear deep red - amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth with reasonable fine carbonation. Soft malts, sweetish, rich honey underneath. For me there is a little too much smoke which jars against the honey sweetness. Light floral sweetness and modest spicy dark fruits. Smooth semi dry finish. Interesting beer but the smoke is at a level that reduced drinkability.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Hazy dark brown-copper coloured with a thin white head. It has an oak, currant and whisky flavour with vanilla and slight peated notes followed by a smooth dried fruit, honey and whisky grain finish. Excellent!

Smoked, dark malts, burnt molasses, honey, dark fruits. Clear, dark brown, medium, creamy, beige head. Medium sweet. More smoked, dark and toasted malts, caramel, biscuit, charred molasses, grain malts, rye, soft carbonation, full bodied, bitter finish. Nice Scottish Ale, quite like the intensity of smokey, dark malts combined with honey. Bottle from Bottle Shop, Bermondsey.
