Opaque black beer, small pale tan head. Palate is slightly soft with fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts. The coconut marries well to the dark chocolate element of the malts giving a Bounty Bar vibe. Touch of dark fruits. Chocolatey finish. As other raters have said, not much CDA character here but it’s a nice beer.
Keg at the Shepherd’s Bush, BrewDog - London. Pours clear, dark brown with a creamy, tan head. The aroma holds well toasted bread, gints of milk chocolate and toasted coconut. Medium sweet flavor with low bitterness, further milk chocolate, lightly burnt brown bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with pleasant milk chocolate, faint coconut essence, some earth, slight rubber, understated roast. Nice stuff overall. Bottle at home, liberated from CBC Cov Gdn, 25/05/14. harrisoni (19425) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2014
Black with a moderate tan covering that retains well.
Nose is light roast, metallic nip, dark berry fruit, earthy cocoa, piney twang, milk chocolate.
Taste comprises light roast, milk chocolate, faint coconut, light hop presence.
Medium body, moderate carbonation, a little watery - sub standard palate on this one for me.
So so CDA, limited hop presence and a little too thin on the palate.
Bottle from The Bottle Shop Canterbury and drunk at home. Black beer with thick lasting tan head. Now I don’t get a lot of coconut nor a lot of Black IPA. Coconut milk I suppose on the aroma, then chocolate in the mouth. To be honest with the addition of the coconut (milk?) it’s more like a milk stout than a black IPA. OK though. Not my thing.

Keg at BD Sheps B. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is toasty, roasted malt, earth, cocoa and underlying sweetness. The taste is soft, bitter, roasty, chocolate, toasted coconut, pine, earth, charred wood, coffee, light acidity, pepper with a pretty dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty easy going stuff. Decent. Stuu666 (15085) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 5, 2014

Cask gravity at the Gun Docklands spring haze beer fest. Oily opaque black / dark caramel coloured pour with a fleeting loose tan head. Aroma is earthy roast barley, desecrated coconut, coconut oil. Hint of sweet choc in the nose as well. Flavour is smooth roast, sweet coconut, dark choc in the finish. Sweet and oily on the tongue. Fullish body. Smooth lingering roast. Moderate carbonation. Some berry fruits in the finish as well. Goes down nicely and the coconut isn’t too dominant. gnoff (11100) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - AUG 24, 2014
