2016 catch up - Bottle at home from Bottledog (which is sadly no more) - One of my favourite black IPAs. The flavour of the malt alongside the hops is fantastic and there is a great mouthfeel. The whole beer is totally integrated and it is like a velvet kiss.

Bottle. Dark Brown/Black in colour. Good creamy beige head. Fair lacing. Malty; roasty/burnt malts, grainy, dark chocolate, liquorice, hint of coffee. Spicy. Fruity; grapefruit citrus. Hoppy; piney resinous hops. Good malt/fruit/hop balance. Bittersweet roast malty and citrus fruity. Quite dry. Bitter burnt malty hoppy finish. Nice Black IPA! (2016-04-11)

Bottle. Chocolate coffee nose. Signature thick weird beard stout mouthfeel. Lovely full round flavour, but well hopped aftertaste that lingers alongside the roasted malty goodness. Bravo.

Bottle, label says 6.5%. Appearance- very dark, opaque, a one-finger beige foamy head. Aroma- hops, grapefruit, orange, caramel, dark malts, milky coffee hints. Pours black with decent off white head. Aroma of light chocolate and slight some with hint of herbal spice and citrus zest. Good carbonation and light mouth feel. Taste is of dry malt, slight coffee note with touch of pine hops. I suspect this would be much better fresh. This bottle is 6 months old. Pitch black with a light beige head. Aromas of roasted malts, bitter chocolate and poorly roasted coffee with piney resinous notes develop. Fine carbonation, light slick with a medium body. Clear dark brown beer, small aery light beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very roasted, coffee, cocoa powder, mocha. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very roasted, charcoal, coffee, little sour, bit hoppy. Aftertaste: bitter hops, very roasted, charcoal, slightly fruity, citrus, very dry, medicinal bitterness.
Draft at Churchkey. Very dark brown color, beige head. Aroma of burnt espresso. Taste has licorice and burnt coffee. Nice.
