teorn88 (8066) - Rimini, ITALY - NOV 4, 2014
Backlog rating. Bottle from Ales by Mail. It pours a light amber color with a small white head. Aroma is lightly hoppy with notes of orange peel and hints of anise. Taste is medium bitter with orange peel, grassy hops and a medium balance of carmale malty notes. Light anise touch in the finish. Medium body with good carbonation. Overall, enjoyable.

Bottled 11/06/14. A hazy blonde beer with a white head and lace. The yeast was poured in which gave it the haze. Flowery hops and yeasty flavours. Pretty decent and well constructed although not over flavoursome really. Didn’t get the spices.

Bottle 500ml.

[ As Weird Beard Hit the Fairy Lights ].
Clear medium orange yellow color with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate hoppy, fruity, perfume, flowers. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, spicy hops, flowers. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140118]

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Somehow surpressed hoppy aroma, hints of orange, pine, a touch of anise. Taste has anise notes, a dry hop touch in the background, cautious caramel malty basis. Anise seems to be more distracting than complementing or supporting.

Bottle at home from ales by mail
hazy mid amber, floaties, frothy beige head. Nutmeg and satsuma. Medium body and carbonation, gentle anise, biscuit malt, gingerbread and long gently pithy finish. Only 4/5 months old but hops really suffered.

2.9
lusikka (7833) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 20, 2014
500 ml bottle.

Pours a hazy golden colour with a small head. Aroma of biscuit, sweet orange and some basil notes. Flavour of biscuit, some grains, citrusy hoppiness, spiciness and some mild fruitiness. Light bodied, slick mouthfeel and a bit low carbonation. Not at it’s best anymore. Can’t locate star anise at all.

Not totally convinced by this one - bit watery and no sign of the spices. Some nice aromas.

Bottled 500ml (bottled 10/2013, AbM)

Golden, a bit hazy color, small steady white head. Quite weak nose, fruity and yeasty notes. Light-bodied. Citric, yeast, hay, orange peels. Can’t find much of star anise. A bit boring, although not much of false here.

3.5
mR_fr0g (13673) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2014
Bottle at home from Sourced Market. Clear golden colour with a lasting white sticky head. Aroma is sharp lime citrus and clean base malt. Flavour is crisp biscuity pale ale base malt, lemon lime crisp hops. Some acid. Finish has subtle orangejuice flavours. Can’t get much star anise. Firm citrus bitter finish that lingers. Dryish finish
