Pacific Northwest meets Pacific Southeast as the best of American and New Zealand hops meld together with just enough malt backbone to allow them to sing. A riot of mango and passion-fruit on the nose but balanced enough to drink by the bucketful. Dive in and grab another bottle but dont get the bends.

Ingredients:
Grains: Pale, Vienna, Munich, Cara-Pils
Hops: Citra, Pacific Gem

0,33l bottle at home courtesy of minutemat, big thanks. shared with gf. Bottled 08/2015, BB 08/2016. amber hazy color, small white head. smells quite fruity, mango, pine apple, passion fruit, light yeasty, flour, light spices, grass, light lemon grass. medium body, soft but bubbly carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes citric, grass, some spices, flour again, a bit soapy, light grains. finishes with grass, a bit soapy and flour and grains. decent stuff but I was a bit unimpressed. Has a lovely smell, but taste was quite soapy / yeasty / grainy, which I did not like so much.

I thought I was tasting this for the first time and was going to tick it as a 4, then saw that I did that previously. So time to rate. LOVELY nose. Absolutely tropical fruit, but not the dank dirty socks taste that I often get with that nose. Just a medium sweet deliciousness.

Flaska frn Alees by mail. En lite trtt APA dr fruktigheten tonats ned lite. Bra kropp, karamell, smrkakor utan att bli stt, mango, citrus och lite passionsfrukt. Bra balans men lite anonym. Ok.

Bottle. Amber/gold pour with a white head. Pineapple, pear, mango- shed loads of exotic/sweet fruit in there. Peach, pineapple and orange rind flavour. Fruit blast on the old palate. Good stuff.

Weird Beard was on my list of beers to try in the UK but I had no chance to try it their. I brought home their decadent stout and it burst out of the can in my bag on the way back so I picked this up for 600 yen at CRAFT BEER BASE. Coincidentally it is also a NZ hopped beer but this 5.3% beer is a Pale Ale rather than Kirins 5.5% "IPA". Pouring a nice copper gold with a solid head of foam it has a fantastic juicy tropical fruits aroma. Light bodied with a slick mouthfeel, its quite bitter giving some butteriness and astringency with a ton of hops. I get the feeling this may have suffered heat damage in transit. The hopping is subdued but this 7 month old beer (Batch 155) gives citrus, mango and grapefruit notes. Alright but I should have tried something of theirs fresh in the UK but I only saw bombers and a few canned beers. Prices were in the 2-3 range each(4 possibly?) so Japans prices arent that bad but hoppy beers need to be fresher.
