Flaska.

Bottle from The Bottle Lab, Leek. 9.2% ABV. Pours a deep brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, blackberry, some red fruits, slight liquorice, a hint of chocolate, yeast and subtle raisin. Taste of roasted malts, dark fruits, some raisin, blackberry, liquorice, a little grapefruit, slight chocolate and subtle spicy hops. Medium bodied, a prickly texture and moderate carbonation. A bittersweet, slightly warming, spicy fruit bitterness in the finish. For a highly rated Weird Beard Beer this is subpar. Pretty much dark fruits and subtle alcohol. Complex yes, enjoyable yes but not what’s expected.

Pitch black. Aroma of fruity hops and roasted malts. Super smooth, big aromas. Bitterness, roasted caramel, malts. Great.

Davros IX (539) - Hertford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 24, 2017
Bottle at home from The Bishop's Cave. Lovely pour and a strong yeasty nose that quickly dissipated. There were no discernible hops to the taste, but this was nearly a year old so that is hardly surprising. The flavour was complex malts with coffee, soy and a well balanced bitterness that made me smile. The mouth feel was velvety and oily and coated my mouth in loveliness. The alcohol was evident, but added a layer to the flavour. A very good imperial stout.
