Medium white head, amber colour. Very sparkly. Strange aroma. Spicy taste and a bitter-sweet palate. Fairly good beer.

3.3
GoufCustom (2077) - HONG KONG - APR 3, 2014

500 ml bottle bought at foodGARDEN in D2 Place, Lai Chi Kok.

Clear amber honey colour; Half finger head and soapy off-white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Small sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation; Sweet aroma of amber malt, with light honey, molasses, hint of floral, light bread, very light lemon and light grass; Very light sweet taste of lightly roasted malt, with notes of molasses, light grains, faint nuts, sea salt, light biscuits, faint lemon very light bitter hops and faint grass; Light body, thin and slightly slick palate; The mouth feel gives you that feel of rustic, old-style Bavarian amber beer: light roasted malt with slight nuttiness, quite intriguing. Body is thin but has that viscous licks and slight saltiness which get things going. Almost no sweetness, light biscuity, comfy all the way… Hoppiness is very low lemon and grass nose and taste. Light bitterness background for a long, slightly astringent finish; Fairly dry after taste, very easy and slightly bitter to mouth.

Comments: A rustic, Frankish Maerzen as advertised, with good amber color, right maltiness with slightly roasty characters, non sweet. Easily enjoyable with an slightly tense edge in palate and hidden bitter hops. Good one!

ThirstyBird (2967) - Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 7, 2014
Pours a clear amber color with a tan head. The smell is bread, grain, caramel. The taste is similar to the nose with some fruity and nutty flavors, with a crisp ending. The body is light+ and a bit slick with average carbonation.

Amber colour, creamy off-white head which collapses surprisingly quickly; aroma and taste of caramel, biscuit, hints of honey and very minimal smoke; correct beer

Erzengel (9080) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - JAN 24, 2014
Test vom 29.11.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,11,10,12,10,11 - 10,85

beautiful, clear amber with a tall, fine head. nice caramel aroma with some dark bread, citrus and floral notes. well-balanced taste with surprisingly subtle sweetness.

bartlebier (4084) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - OCT 16, 2013
50cl bottle, Sagasser. Dry and roasty Märzen with an almost ale-like quality, only lighter bodied. Aromas of roast nuts and caramel blend in very well with the dry aromatic, near-fruity bread crust & biscuit malts and earthy, spicy hops. Good stuff from a benchmark traditional Franconian brewery that is well aware of new trends.
