(500 ml labelled "Monk’s Christmas" from Bootleggers) Pours mostly clear dark tea brown with a large, lasting tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, vanilla and chocolate with some initial sourishness. Mouthfeel smooth, fairly full but filtered-feeling, borderline creamy. Flavor of chocolate, brown sugar and vanilla, a bit restrained but good. Turns more chocolatey as it warms. Pretty pleasant dunkel bier. madquacker (1176) - Canberra ACT, AUSTRALIA - DEC 16, 2011

Flavor is lightly sweet and slightly bitter. Tastes of malt, leaves, and marzen-like flavors. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass very dark, almost black. Nice head. Starts mild, fine malty, not too roasty. Hints of caramel. Well balanced finish, quite drinkable. Really good dunkles. Dedollewaitor (16584) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 13, 2011

Bottle 50cl, a dark amber beer with good head but goes down too quickly. Nose is on brown bread and caramel. Aroma is on toasted malt, caramel, vegetables, brown bread, the beer is medium sweet to low with a slightly sour and smoked hints. Finish is very dry with a grassy hops note, an unusual dunkel, quite easy to drink, not heavy and well hopy, body is a bit less complex. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - APR 17, 2011
