16.9 oz. swingtop bottle picked up on a recent holiday beer run.
Pours a deep dark ruby/mahogany color with very dark orange edges when held to a light source ans a one finger frothy off white head with decent retention, only slowly fading into a lasting ring that leaves sporadic cunks of soapy lacing behind.
Slightly earthy aroma with hints of chocolate and caramel malt, rye, light cherry and grassy hops. Subtle toffee and hazelnut presence in the nose.
Soft carbonation up front with a lightr body than I expected. Prominent spice up front that lingers over the sweet lightly roasted malt body into a bone dry finish. Hints of christmas cake, spice, caramel and rye maltiness, cinnamon, brown sugar and dark sour cherries. Also there is some toffee ands subtle nutty flavor. Pretty sweet and spicy but is somewaht blanced by the malt backbone. Easy to drink and a big plus is that it doesn’t have the medicinal syrupy fell that I hate in a lot of Xmas beers.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Malty chocolate notes, some light lactose notes, caramel and toffee. Some thin butter scotch tones, light wood and a hint of smoke. A nice ale. CanIHave4Beers (4284) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - DEC 12, 2009
I almost didn’t buy this because I thought it was just old bottles of Monks Fest. I’m glad I recognized the subtle differences in the label (i.e. the name of the beer) The beer pours with a medium fluffy head that leaves a good lace, the color is a brilliant orange-ish red. The aroma has some hay and some mild chocolate with some graininess and light whiffs of noble hops. The flavor is husky and has plenty of herbal hops and some good chocolate notes. There is also a spicy & sweet candy thing going on in the background that is pretty good as well. The palate is rich but very smooth (real smooth?) This is another very nice beer from this brewery, I hope these seasonals from weissenoher keep popping up around Des Moines. GMCC2181 (1620) - Newark, Delaware, USA - DEC 10, 2009

The color is beautiful, red-brown and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, nuts and caramel. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of roasted malt, nuts, caramel, and the finish has a slightly dry touch of citrus. A quite nice one! FatPhil (17742) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 21, 2009

Rich red, small tight head. Rich grainy aroma, quite bready, Anna
detects some cocoa. Soft carbonation, smooth palate. Really rich malty
grainy taste, a touch nutty, some smokiness too. Bitterness stays for
a gentle nutty finish. Goes down very easily, but packed full of
flavour. Great dunkles.
Bottle. The aroma is malty, some chocolate. The head is small, white and creamy with a normal duration. The body is dark red. The taste goes a little bit in the direction of a milk chocolate, quite malty. The body is light o medium, creamy and with a soft carbonation. A good Dunkel.
