Cask at NERAX. Pours a dark brown with a thin beige head. Huge hot malt aroma, with lots of heavy caramel and toffee. Flavour is similarly robust, with huge toasted malt, caramel and toffee taste. Virtually no hop character. Hot alcohol finish, smooth and full bodied. My second from the brewery, and both have been big, intense and delicious sweet beers. Bottle 50 cl, BBE 08/2014. Pours clear darker copper in color with a frothy tan head. There is
some quite sweet notes present at first in aroma, brown sugar and light roasted nutty notes
too. Later on some fruitier notes as in pear appears. Interesting. Light roastedness and sweet
maltyness in taste. Even a bit of smoky notes, some old leather and saltyness towards the
finish. BVery (11361) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - FEB 19, 2014

Geschmack angenehm röstmalzig, würzig, gering schokoladig.

A Christmasy dunkel beer was a nice addition to my sampler tray. The daily tap special at Holy Grale, this would have been worth a full pint if I would have had more time. If you are lucky enough to be in the area do not miss whatever German drafts they have at the time.
Aroma / Appearance - The body looks like a glass of warm apple cider. Malty caramel apples add a sweet nutty texture. This isn’t complex but it is very pleasing.
Flavor / Palate - The taste of fresh apple cider chased with a bit of nuttiness opens well. A dry finish works its way to the back of the throat. One weakness is that over times it does not really improve. It might have been the handling in the way to the Midwest; I would love to try some beers in this style and the other Germanic ones at the source.
Aroma is slight.. Perhaps mildly sour grain, bready. Thin head
Taste is raisin or fig.. A little bit of spice.

Flasche. - Tiefes Rotbraun. Swamp_Thing (53) - Florida, USA - DEC 28, 2013
Imported bottle. Straightforward dunkel, caramel and raisins predominate. Slight hoppy spice lingers nicely. Inoffensive and drinkable.
