Bottle. Pours clear tea\amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt with a touch of caramel. Rather bitter flavour of hops with a touch of malty sweetness. A trifle unbalanced. Still, a reasonable dunkel. JK54B (1602) - Helsinki, FINLAND - FEB 17, 2013
Slightly sweet malty nose. Large pale beige head. Dark coppery color. Malty and hoppy slightly syropy taste. Mild hops. Nice color. Blairgus (4613) - California, USA - FEB 12, 2013
12 Feb 2013, bottle. light orange, clear, steady bubbles, rocky head. nose is sweet, caramel malt. thin/med body and slightly syrupy. tastes of candy, caramel, sugary malt. meh. jfb (6509) - GERMANY - JAN 22, 2013
(bottle) pours a clear amber-brown colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of dark fruit, caramel and barnyard, with a hint of earth and mint. flavour is mostly the same, with a hint of grainy roasted malts, liquorice and dark fruit. medium-bodied with average carbonation. mansquito (6695) - Nueva York, New York, USA - JAN 21, 2013
New Beer Distributors, NY 50cl ($4.50): Pours a copper color with a whitish head. Aroma is caramel, malt, and a modicum of hops. Taste is quite sweet, and it leaves somewhat of an aftertaste that is quite sugary. Body is medium. Not bad, but easily forgettable.

50 cl bottle @ Timo A. Rated on 05.01.2011bartlebier (4077) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - JAN 15, 2013
Aroma is somewhat roasted with coffee notes, some chocolate and malt. Flavour is malty with some chocolate, berries, caramel and hints of metal. Decent.
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2015 50cl Maruhn - Surprisingly tasty, dry, potent Dunkel with some subtle aromas to back up the balanced full roasty Vollbier taste - verges into Belgian dark ale territory, but with more bitterness and contained ABV. Nice label. One of my gateway beers to the rich Franconian beer world.
tuesday, january 15, 2013// Rerate 02/2015, bottle bb07/2015: sourish bread crust notes, nuts, somehow less shiny than first time but still natural and very decent. DavidWoodruff (629) - Windsor, California, USA - JAN 3, 2013
Deep gold to light amber in color (not sure why it is called a Dunkel). Head faded to nothing almost immediately. Light malty aroma with some DMS characteristics. Malty with some flavors associated with under attenuation. Seems much more in line with a Maibock than any kind of Dunkel. Not bad, but I would not go out of my way to find it again. A very interesting beer. Pours a beautiful clear amber red. Smells of black cherries and caramel. Taste is similar, cherries, caramel and vanilla. Had on New Years.
