mansquito (6887) - Nueva York, New York, USA - JAN 21, 2013
New Beer Distributors, NY 50cl ($4.50): Pours a copper color with a whitish head. Aroma is caramel, malt, and a modicum of hops. Taste is quite sweet, and it leaves somewhat of an aftertaste that is quite sugary. Body is medium. Not bad, but easily forgettable. jfb (6617) - GERMANY - JAN 22, 2013

Feines Dunkles mit den üblichen Malzaromen und etwas Nuss im Hintergrund. Süffig und mild. Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - DEC 24, 2010
Bottle: The aroma is loaded with heavy roasted grains along with some faint brown sugar and nuts. It pours a bright transparent copper with a one finger beige head that leaves behind a solid sheet of lacing...an impressive looking beer. The flavor starts with some nice light chocolate and caramel. Moderate roasted grains in the middle, but nowhere near as strong as the aroma would you to believe they would be. The finish has some light chocolate and roasted nuts. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. zvikar (6444) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - DEC 13, 2014

On tap at Mikkeller Bar SF. It pours a reddish amber color with an off white head. The aroma has nice maltiness that comes across as cherry and plum. A bit of cherry syrup. The flavor is very thick on the palate and malty with more cherry and raisin. A little toast. Virtually no hop character. Very rich and malty, but I would have preferred a little more dry toasty character to balance the fruitiness. Well done. Cletus (6368) - Connecticut, USA - FEB 2, 2010

080417. This is possibly the best German beer that I have had and it deserves high praise indeed. A rare find at the new Malt Traders at Southbank I enjoyed this bottle while people watching. The beer looks great when poured into a glass and has a deep toffee colour and a large fluffy head of sweet smelling foam. It would be a shame if you drank this beer straight from the bottle as it deserves to be poured into a glass. The aroma is full on malt with a sweetness thrown into the mix. Like the aroma the flavour is malt heavy and fills the mouth with a wonderful toffee and vanilla flavour. The finish is like everything else about the beer - very good. Bottle from South Lyndale Liquor. A light brown color and low carbonation. The aroma has malt and lager yeast but there is also some light spice I can’t identify, along with the lightest nutmeg. Rich palate and lots of sweet malt. A very good dunkel, and unusual with the light spice. Another reminder that it is hard to get a quality dunkel outside of central Europe. jaghana (6273) - Strasbourg (Alsace), FRANCE - JUL 8, 2011
Bottle 50cl, a dark amber beer with good head but goes down too quickly. Nose is on brown bread and caramel. Aroma is on toasted malt, caramel, vegetables, brown bread, the beer is medium sweet to low with a slightly sour and smoked hints. Finish is very dry with a grassy hops note, an unusual dunkel, quite easy to drink, not heavy and well hopy, body is a bit less complex.
