Strong off-white head of fine and dense bubbles. Sweet malty aroma with a bit of spice and vegetal aromas. Color is a very nice dark crimson brown. Lots of bready malts, some roasted brains, brown sugar and some cloying sweetness. Little bit sickly sweet in the stomach. Finishes thick and malty with a bit of lingering spices and squash. An ok brew. Boliv (1150) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 27, 2010

A Christmasy dunkel beer was a nice addition to my sampler tray. The daily tap special at Holy Grale, this would have been worth a full pint if I would have had more time. If you are lucky enough to be in the area do not miss whatever German drafts they have at the time.
Aroma / Appearance - The body looks like a glass of warm apple cider. Malty caramel apples add a sweet nutty texture. This isn’t complex but it is very pleasing.
Flavor / Palate - The taste of fresh apple cider chased with a bit of nuttiness opens well. A dry finish works its way to the back of the throat. One weakness is that over times it does not really improve. It might have been the handling in the way to the Midwest; I would love to try some beers in this style and the other Germanic ones at the source.
Dark brown colour with tiny off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, little hops and some caramel notes. Similar are flavours. Medium body, low carbonation and bitterness. Drinkable but still not superlative.
