COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Really enjoyed this one. Poured a nice brown with an off-white head. Malt and roast aromas with some nice spice. Finished nice, sweet and complex.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2011 Bottle (as Monk’s Christmas). Head is initially large, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, caramel), moderately hoppy (honeysuckle flowers), with notes of minerals and tangerine, hint of smoke. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Solid, clean, and delightful.

Deep amber beer. The nose is quite clean and toasty. It’s fairly clean with a pronounced munich malt toastiness. Nice noble hop spiciness and a bit of minerally character as well. Nice balance of toasted malts and soft herbal hoppiness. Nutty and pretty damn tasty.

Nagyon finom kis serecske, kicsit édeskés, malátás, olyan melaszos. Érződik a karemel is. Igazi dunkel mintapéldány. Ja és gesztenyebarna színe van, annak akit ez érdekel.

Clear dark amber with a nice head and lace. Taste is full caramel malt with light spices and light bittering. Easy to drink and nice full-body, especially in light of the 5.1%abv. Recommended.

Bottle from South Lyndale Liquor. A light brown color and low carbonation. The aroma has malt and lager yeast but there is also some light spice I can’t identify, along with the lightest nutmeg. Rich palate and lots of sweet malt. A very good dunkel, and unusual with the light spice. Another reminder that it is hard to get a quality dunkel outside of central Europe.

A very interesting beer. Pours a beautiful clear amber red. Smells of black cherries and caramel. Taste is similar, cherries, caramel and vanilla. Had on New Years. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0.5l bottle. Dark amber body, off white head. Sweet malty aroma, mostly toast and caramel, but there is some floral hoppyness too. Taste reflects the aroma. Mostly sweet caramely, toasty malts but the finish has some floral hops in it. Very nice dunkel. I like it.

Bottle. The Monk’s Christmas version. Medium to dark brown. Small head. Rum cake and dried fruit aroma. Taste is a pleasant malty sweet flavor. Nice beer.
