Rich red, small tight head. Rich grainy aroma, quite bready, Anna
detects some cocoa. Soft carbonation, smooth palate. Really rich malty
grainy taste, a touch nutty, some smokiness too. Bitterness stays for
a gentle nutty finish. Goes down very easily, but packed full of
flavour. Great dunkles.

Pours reddish brown with a massive beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a nutty caramel malt flavor with a clean dry finish. One could drink a lot of this. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 14, 2011

Bottle 50cl, a dark amber beer with good head but goes down too quickly. Nose is on brown bread and caramel. Aroma is on toasted malt, caramel, vegetables, brown bread, the beer is medium sweet to low with a slightly sour and smoked hints. Finish is very dry with a grassy hops note, an unusual dunkel, quite easy to drink, not heavy and well hopy, body is a bit less complex.

Bottle @ Bamberg. Pours dark amber with a creamy head and lacings. Dark, fruit, caramel, bread and nuts. Vaguely roasted and chewy malty flavor. Smooth. Nice! Embrouille (2854) - SWITZERLAND - NOV 17, 2011
Bottled 50cl. Ordered from www.bierzwerg.de. Lost the tasting notes unfortunately. Another delicious beer from this brewery. bartlebier (4118) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - JAN 15, 2013
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2015 50cl Maruhn - Surprisingly tasty, dry, potent Dunkel with some subtle aromas to back up the balanced full roasty Vollbier taste - verges into Belgian dark ale territory, but with more bitterness and contained ABV. Nice label. One of my gateway beers to the rich Franconian beer world.
tuesday, january 15, 2013// Rerate 02/2015, bottle bb07/2015: sourish bread crust notes, nuts, somehow less shiny than first time but still natural and very decent. Strykzone (7582) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAR 21, 2013
Pine bottle from Hayduke. We had it together via facebook chat. The beer poured mid brown and clear. Kind of tea colored but darker. A nice beige fluffy head was big and finally completely disappeared. An aroma that had some roasted notes with hops. The flavor surprised me a bit and I didn’t quite know how to categorize it. I tasted plenty of sweet malts. Grass and spices, too. Hops were interesting as was the yeast. There was some fruit in there and some nuts that grew with warmer temps. The aftertaste was spice and several minutes after the last sip is gone I still taste it. beertholomeus (1813) - California, USA - NOV 8, 2013
Pours a hazy copper color with frothy white head. Malt, biscuit and caramel aroma. Malt, biscuit, caramel and fruit flavors. Medium body and a smooth, sweet mouth feel. Malty finish.
