Bottle from "Sörspecialista", Bp.
Clear mahogany/dark amber coloured brew with a nice creamy and laceing off-white head on its top, which remain thinly.
Smell of caramell and grassy hops.
Sharp start escorted by a malty aroma of caramell, toast, grass and yeast.
Sweet taste of caramell balanced by a spicy and toasted/nutty bitter flavour in the finish, which drains the palate and remain in a caramell-toasty aftertaste.
Medium bodied, good drinkable stuff, worth for a try… bhensonb (15971) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 2, 2010
Bottle as Monk’s Christmas from the Arden BevMo in Sacramento, CA. Pours ruddy dark brown with a fine off-white head. Smells rather sweet and roasty. Med body. Flavor is rather light, and not that sweet. The description says Landbier, and I think that’s suggestive. There’s something herby holding back the sweet. Drinks very pleasantly. 50cl bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured dark copper color with a white head. Aroma is wood, roasted malt and weak smokey notes. Medium body. Flavor is bready malt at first, then roasted malt with some chocolate and nuts. Finish is slightly dry. Solid dunkel. bartlebier (4216) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - JAN 15, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 16, 2018 50cl Maruhn - Surprisingly tasty, dry, potent Dunkel with some subtle aromas to back up the balanced full roasty Vollbier taste - verges into Belgian dark ale territory, but with more bitterness and contained ABV. Nice label. One of my gateway beers to the rich Franconian beer world.
tuesday, january 15, 2013// Rerate 02/2015, bottle bb07/2015: sourish bread crust notes, nuts, somehow less shiny than first time but still natural and very decent. // Rerate 50cl MHD08/2018, Maruhn: did this get sweeter, fruitier? Less roast and dryness, even a slick palate now. Still enjoyable with some bitters, but no Meister, Held or Leupser Dunkel... ration (2282) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 19, 2013

50cl bottle @ Brisbane German Club. Clear copper-brown appearance with decent creamy-white head and lace. Nose is sweet caramel malt driven with definite smoky notes and perhaps a hint of dark chocolate. Taste is straightforward sweet roasty caramel malts and a light hop bitterness. Medium bodied and quite dry on the palate. Quaffable.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar SF. It pours a reddish amber color with an off white head. The aroma has nice maltiness that comes across as cherry and plum. A bit of cherry syrup. The flavor is very thick on the palate and malty with more cherry and raisin. A little toast. Virtually no hop character. Very rich and malty, but I would have preferred a little more dry toasty character to balance the fruitiness. Well done. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 2, 2013
On tap @ Mikkeller. Dark amber colored beer with an off-white head. Aroma is cola, cherry, and toasted bread. A hint of chocolate and some raisin. Not bad. Flavor is a bit sweeter than expected. A lot of cola, cherry, and raisin. Toasted bread, chocolate, and very mild roast. Almost no bitterness. Rando7 (787) - Iowa, USA - DEC 14, 2013
Bottle pours amber-brown with one finger yellow head. Malty aroma, kind of an adjunct odor. Taste a little sweet, malty, slight nuts and banana. Mild finish of German hops. Pretty easy drinking.
