Gravity cask at Churchkey. Cloudy yellow, small off white head, massive lacing. Aroma of sour grapefruit. Taste has plenty of citrus, malt, straw. Medium body. Very nice.

Koelschtrinker (20388) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 4, 2011
Malziger Antrunk, erst frisch, dann etwas dunkler werdend. 500ml bottle (Alko, Tallinn)
Golden brown, tight head. Really rich grainy, slightly husky aroma, a few orangezest and other fruity esters there too. Pleasant carbonation. The aroma was good preparation for the taste, in the mouth there’s a lovely deep bitter presence in the retronasals, and then on swallowing you realise this is jam-packed full of grainy malts, a really full marzen. And I don’t mean ’malts’ as in sugar, like fucked up US beers, I mean the malted grains - this is actually quite dry. The bitterness gives clues that there’s some roastiness too, and in the finish I even get a cocoa-like roasted hint (though perhaps more kamatahvelly than real chocolate). Full flavoured and thirst quenching - that’s what a beer should be like.

500 ml swing-top from BevMo. Copper amber color with a decent beige/tan head. Mild caramel aroma. Near medium body with smooth, creamy carbonation. Flavor is lightly caramel with a touch of noble hop. It has a slight astringency in the finish. Quite drinkable.
