Clear amber color. Quickly fading head. Lovely malty aroma with caramel, dried fruits, some yeast esters (again, some dried fruits, a hint of banana-like character), fresh baked dark bread. Sweet start, very malty, bready in the middle. Some caramel, yeast fruitness. Nice herbal hop finish, but not overly bitter. Very balanced. A lovely beer. Nice to have some yeast character to add some complexity to the style.

Bottle shared at CBC Islington as ’Weißenoher Kloster-Sud’. Amber orange, still, clear, foamy tan head, light lacing. Aroma is white bread, browned apple, a touch of varnish. Body is smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is smooth sweet bready malt sugars, apple, resin, with a subtle musty finish. A decent simple beer.

Honey coloured, with white head that doesn’t last beyond a minute. Light palate, moderate carbonation. Malt on the nose, and a whiff of wood smoke. Bready malt in the taste - not as heavy as in many dunkels - and quite sweet, with hints of honey and candied orange, and some banana at the end.

Bottle at Craft Islington thanks to Dirty D. It pours fresh, bready malts, sweet candied peel, grass and paper. The taste is soft, sweet, candy, sugary malts, sweet bread, candied apricot, dull sherbet and biscuit with a sweet finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. OK, but a bit overlay sweet for my liking.

50cl bottle shared at Dave’s tasting @CBC Islington, London. Big thanks to Daniel for this one. It pours a clean dark golden color with a small white head. Aroma is slinky grainy sweet with notes of starch and caramel. Taste is also sweet and starchy corny grainy with more caramel and biscuit and light skunk. Medium bodied with OK carbonation. Overall, quite bad
