Can [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o tupalev. Pours a slightly hazy orange-copper with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Odd aroma, it’s papery and malty along with light hops and some vegetal notes. Flavour’s better, with caramel malt and light hops. Average bitter finish. Average bodied. Not bad, just decent. Hazy amber pour. Aroma is fairly malty with lots of iced tea and sweet crystal malt in there. Hops are actually pretty expressive despite this - some citrus and some toffee. Decent although could be a whole hell of a lot dryer.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2012 473mL can from the brewery. Pours a dark amber with a large tan head. Aroma is heavy on the malts, rather complex, with the Wellington character I’m becoming quite familiar with. Taste is nice, deep and rich malt characters totally overwhelm the hop aspects which are basically a footnote. Quite earthy. Not really an IPA in the modern sense, but a solid pale ale nonetheless. I just feel like I’ve had this beer 15 times already. MrManning (2009) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 27, 2012
Can at Casbah, Hamilton, ON. Moderatly hazed bright amber, with a reasonable beige cap. Very rustic woody nose hints at earthy and malts notes predominately over the seemingly English styled hop profile. The nose also has a certain minerality to it. Mildly sweet, husky, with earthy malts, the hops are toned down but present and pleasing. They used sorachi ace, and I think that is a neat idea. Medium bodied, earthy, almost sulphuric finish. Good. kevinsenn (2210) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 21, 2012
Sampled at Downtown Kitchener Ribfest and Craft Beer Show. Clear amber with a creamy tan head. Slight hoppy (citrus) aroma, with some caramel. Taste is caramel, nuts, malt, floral hops, with a medium bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Good stuff.

On cask at the Only. Pours a cloudy orange/brown with small off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt and earthy hops. Flavour is sweet caramel malt, a little fruit and earthy hops. Ok, but not one of the better Welly One-Offs. pootzboy (1736) - Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 15, 2012
On tap: A deep amber- gold ale with a 2 finger white cap - aroma of crystal and cara malts and grassy wood y hops. Medium bodied. Nice blend of malt in the fornt balanced well with pinry bitter hops, rather two dimensional, clean bitter finish wih a lingering metallic bitterness.
A servicable pub IPA nothing fancy but drinkable. jercraigs (10365) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 10, 2012 2012-07-06. No notes, this seemed much less grainy than the previous sample, much to its benefit, but is still very malt forward and not very bitter or hoppy for an IPA. +1-2 overall. Can shared by Tupalev

2012-06-23. Crisp very dark amber body with a large foamy beige head. 4+ Very malty, with sort of an earthy malt character, light green hops, earthy dusty malt in the finish. 5+ Aroma has a similar earthy dusty malt character, mild leafy green hops. Average plus bodied palate. At Session Festival 2012, Toronto
A dark copper amber IPA with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a light grainy malt with light boiled veggie notes, grassy hops, OK. in mouth, a smooth caramel malt with light burned notes, treacle, grassy metallic hops, OK. On tap at Session 99, June 23, 2012. solidfunk (8943) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Smells like sugar, honey and a little bit too strongly. Bad impression from the beginning. The pour is brown amber with no lacing, dead head. Taste has slight bitterness, more on the apa level than ipa. On tap at volos.
