2011-06-25. Black body is nearly headless. 3+ The flavour is fairly roasty up front, bitter roast but not particularly hoopy. Lingering roast malt in the finish. Aroma has a bit more hops, green leafy touches over a rich dark malt character, light roast in the nose. 7+ Average plus bodied palate. Pretty nice but seems more like a slightly hoppier stourt or porter than a Black IPA. Cask, Session Festival 2011, Toronto jimmay (807) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 20, 2011
On cask at the Wooly. Pours pitch black, with (surprisingly for a cask) a moderate dark tan head. Found the aroma and taste dominated by roasted malt, quite bitter, but not from the hops, but from the roast malt. Hints of floral hop and chocolate malt. Pretty darn good, but expected more hop with this style. RayOhm (474) - Fergus, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 19, 2011
on cask at the brewery. nice roasty chocolate and coffee malts mixed with light hoppyness. very good beer, just thought there could have been a bit more hops. Ontbeertaster (2362) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 19, 2011
Cask at wellington, Pours a deep dark black colour, with minimal head. Beer tasted and smelt very hoppy. Smelt more hoppy then was. But this was a very impressive black IPA. You can taste the dark and roasty malts they did a nice mix of the hops and malts. it was a really good one for the style. I liked this one a lot.
