COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Part of the One-Off Series. This 5.5% beer has a dark amber hue and a strong floral nose. Once tasted, Wellington IPA coats the mouth with the body of an English Pale Ale and captivates the taste buds with a hoppiness that is intense without being overbearing. Our offering supplies a sweet citrus sensation up front buoyed by a balanced bittering background that is slow to subside. Wellington IPA quenches the thirst while compelling you to sample it again and ask why is this so refreshing and good?

This IPA poured a cloudy amber colour with a nice, soapy, off white head. Scents include citrus hops, hay and toast. First sip was very smooth but a bit thin. Flavours strong with hop and grass. Finish was bitter with toasty hop flavour lingering.

Smells a little citrusy. Pours red with good creamy head and some lacing., good lacing. Taste is pretty unremarkable. Not that bitter and a little chemically even. Boring and light on palate. Tap at The Stout

November 26, 2011 - on cask at Volo. Beautiful pour - clear and refractive ruby-copper with a solid frothy off-white head (4+). Aroma doesn’t scream "IPA" to me - some dry leafy/twiggy bitterness, a little herbal, more a weird light roast/sweet fruit thing going on, like a poor attempt at a bitter. Taste is really more ESB - floral and malty - it IS somewhat bitter, but not IPA/APA - twiggy, characterless - it gets a little more bitter as it warms, but not much - and not much alcohol presence either. Fairly still, average body ... longish generically somewhat bitter finish - an odd duck, doesn’t suck, don’t know what to make of it.

I tried this beer on tap on October 5, 2011. The beer poured a hazy copper colour with a creamy tan coloured head. The aroma was caramel malt, weak hops, and yeasty tones. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was sweet malt and weak citrusy hops. Not a memorable beer.

473ml can. Despite not being shaken or dropped can gushed foam on opening. Poured a rich caramel brown with very large, fluffy off-white head. Aroma had a big pine scent up front with some caramel and brown sugar malt. Taste is piney with a little brown sugar sweetness, but the hops dominate. Touch of earth. Body is lightish for an IPA and easily drinkable. Overall, one of the most bitter single IPAs I’ve had.

Draft at the Black Shire pub in London. Very dark brown pour for an IPA. This is the darkest IPA I’ve had. For those who have been following you have to wonder why I keep ordering IPAs. Well pubs get them in because of the popularity of Keith’s. Sad I know. Keith’s is nothing near a real IPA, which is one of the reasons I drink it regularly. Okay then... Smells like an IPA, hops, lots of it. Taste - not bad at all. There just a touch of that grapefruit hoppy badness. The rest is all good. Actually a touch nutty and sweet. I actually rather like this. It’s still got that pale ale bite but it’s not overpowering at all. Good finisher for a good night. That’s all folks.. I wish I was here all week.

[4153-20111125] Cask. Toasted grainy leaf hops aroma. Clear, dark red body with a quick foamy off-white head. More toasted bitter and grainy malt in the flavour. Medium-full body. Good balance and shape but not sure I’m a fan of the hops. (7/3/6/3/14) 3.3

Cask at Volo. Nov. 26, 2011. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a small lasting fizzy off-white head. Odd aroma has a touch of butteryness (diacytl?) along with caramel malt, some light hops, some light toastiness and a touch of fruit -- not really what I look for in an IPA. Flavour’s a bit better, it’s fruity and hoppy along with caramel malt and a good semi-long bitter finish. Average bodied. Overall, I didn’t love it but it’s enjoyable enough.

Draught pint at Rhino. Dark copper-amber with a nice creamy off-white head. Impressive aroma of smooth caramel malt and vibrant resinous hops. Good mouthfeel, full but not cloying or sticky. Solid flavour that matches the aroma, with the addition of some tropical fruit notes in the middle, and a long, nicely bittered finish. Really impressive - the best beer I’ve had from Wellington in a long time!

Radek Kliber (7359) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - NOV 28, 2011
On tap at Volo
Aroma citrus , green hop, slight woody hints abound. Pleasant IPA nose, hoppy without harshness. 7+
Appearance red amber , slight haze. White, medium sized top. Sparse lace. 4-
Flavor and Palate : Medium full bodied. Smooth, clean with surprisingly mildness. Gentle citrus with good depth and character. Pleasant surprise.
