Relatively mild malty aroma comes out of a beautiful ruby red to brown body. Wish it had some more hops hiding in there but still, the malty sweetness makes this one an ale worth trying. pootzboy (1824) - Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 14, 2004

Poured a clear deep red cola color, mildly effervescent, the cap lasted a very short life but the lace andring then hang in for the ride
Subtle smells of raisins, fruits and sweet malt odors....slight hint of nutty-spice.
Taste...not as complex as I've been lead to believe but a really well carafted ale. Starts a with a real rich mouth full of dried fruit- malts up front..full bodied... raisin bread malty tones with some spice tastes...but it does lack the sharp hop astringency in the finish some crave...but that's ok by me...I like it....finish is long with a sweet- sour -bready after taste and a mild alcohol discernment. The whole swallow comes off as tastfully sweet, rich without hop over balance and with a nice alcohol warming in the finish... Has become a standard ale of mine. ...great brew!
True hop heads may be not be able to dig deep into this one....but for me...I like it as a drinkable brew...a micro ale that doesn't make you endure rough edges to get your hop hit at the expence of a great pronounced blend of malts.

Nice dark brown ale with a nice moka head. Intense malt nose, and even moreintense nutty malt taste with woody, almost porto or vinous tendancies. Alcool warmth enrobes your mouth and creamy mouthfeel. Yummy. Crockett (1139) - Southampton, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 22, 2004
Pours red/brown. Roasty sweet nose. Lots of Cola qualities. Toasty malt and sweet but cloying.

This Ale pours a deep red colour with a head that looks like soapy water. Grape citrus, doughy yeast and some nice malts make up the scent to this one. The first sip started out slightly acidic with a strong hoppy flavour of almost pine and more citrus (grape) notes.
The palate was a little nutty with little to no carbonation. Almost flat. Too bad since this one came right from the brewery. This beer was better before when I tried it. mkobes (2142) - paramus, New Jersey, USA - DEC 1, 2003
Very malty beer, with low hop flavor. Really enjoyable. Very enjoyable. Nice warming beer. Perfect for the winter. I really liked it. Caramel aroma and clean tasting. Brown in color. MaiBockAddict (1497) - Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA - NOV 30, 2003
Pours brown with a thin off-white head. Malty carmel aroma and clean. Big malt flavor, lowm hop, with carmel dominating. Very drinkable and a good effort. Many thanks to Lubiere. hopscotch (11419) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 26, 2003
This beer rocks!
Sparkling clear and as coppery as a freshley-minted penny. Not much of a head.
Some chocolate notes and yeasty, doughy characteristics along with geueze in the aroma.
Very malty flavor with rich cream and butter in the flavor. Sherry and alcohol too.
Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Lengthy, bittersweet finish. World Class Brew! JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - NOV 10, 2003
This ale is a bit on the watery side. It's malty, but it comes across thin.
