Light, malty, nutty aroma. Dark amber with cream coloured head. Rich malty, full bodied, strong sweet raisiny taste, flavour and aroma hops used, (fuggles i think). Rather thin lingering finish. mrkimchee (1414) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 6, 2002
dark fruity aroma. chocolatey, raisiny. sweet, but not too sweet. very tasty. MeisterEckart (18) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 23, 2002
Despite the deep amber colour, brown-hued head and definite malt aroma, this ale was not as heavy as I expected. The body is malty and sweet, and leaves behind a bitter coffee aftertaste which is not unpleasant. It does seem to improve with time, and I enjoyed the beer more as I neared the bottom of the pint glass, since the beer lost some of its carbonation and gained a smoother feel and more sweetness. This leads me to think it could be delicious as a non-carbonated cask ale. daboskabouter (1470) - Fergus, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 17, 2002
Dark red. Very fruity nose with a touch of hops. Good maltiness, hints of fruit and alcohol in the body. Finishes nicely bitter. Another quality offering from Wellington. Schroppfy (2360) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - JUL 22, 2002
I’m not the biggest fan of English Strongs, but this one is quite good...and a fair representative of the style, I think. Malts are a bit sweet.

Conspicuous fruity malt heading a herd of fine caramel, licorice and candy sugar…And a sturdy bitterness stays at the back to make sure no one goes astray…And of course no one does…Beautiful beer…

Sweet floral aroma, auburn, slim head. Coffee, chicory flavour, also roated malts. Fine bitterness, very smooth, complex. Really good ale. jsquire (4490) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - JUL 10, 2002
This beer has a beautiful deep ruby color with a fluffy off-white head that left a nice lace on the glass. The initial sensation is of an intensely malty beer that warms up to bring out the sherry, caramel tones. The finish is nice a clean and very balanced. I would have guessed the ABV to be a little higher. A very good beer. radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 10, 2002
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2004 Dark brown in colour. Aroma of cherries, malt, slight roast. Flavour was of slight roast, with some caramel, slightly sweet, full bodied. Finishes with a medium bitterness, slightly dry. screigh (737) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - MAR 10, 2002
This reminds me a little of Goose Island Hex Nut (one of my favorite beers). This is one of the best Canadian beers I have ever had. Plenty of flavor.
