UPDATED: JUN 19, 2011 341ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is nutty, with heavy notes of cocoa, molasses, and alcohol. The taste is again cocoa heavy, with faint molasses, woody notes, vanilla, dried fruits as it warms, and a bitter finish. Really seems to have improved in the last couple of years. Flavourful and easy drinking. Well done. Funknmilla (751) - WAYNE, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2009
Bottle in a trade with matt7215....7-30-09....Licorice and brown sugar aroma--they don’t mix well.....reddish brown with no foam....malted cherry ....light bodied yet substantial...well balanced and good cfrancis (3611) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 11, 2009
Dark ruby cola colour with a thin head. Aroma is gorgeous, it’s almost like sticking your nose into a good whisky or bourbon bottle. Oak, spice malt in the aroma. Taste is great, with a great spicy aftertaste. Full flavour and mouthfeel with a little bitterness. Great beer, glad I bought a 6’er. garthicus (2962) - Dublin, IRELAND - OCT 27, 2009
On cask at Volo. Appearance: purple red with no head. Aroma: port, malt, spice, alcohol. Flavour: spicy malt followed by a nice vine flavour with grass and bitterness to follow. Nice long bitter finish. DuffMan (10751) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 10, 2009
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with amber highlights, medium tan head. Aroma is sweet burnt toffee, faintly fruity. Sweet caramel flavour, a little nutty and fruity with a surprising smokey element. Medium bodied, sweetness lingers in the finish impairing its drinkability somewhat. Still, decent enough.

Ruby brown , minimal off-white head, had no lacing, alcoholic warming, aroma of dark fruits, berries, roasted malt and malty bitterness. Medium carbonation, reminds me of Trois Pistoles. Pretty decent alcohol is a little overwhelming, but still a decent offering. Bejaaamin (115) - London, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 1, 2009
Nice brown colour, good size head. Nose; nutty, caramel, coffee, very sweet. Flavours were similar, not quite bitter enough of a finsh. But good. EHGsean (28) - CANADA - MAY 1, 2009
Caramel, chocolate, and a bit of an alcohol warmth that comes through in the finish. When compared to the "Wellington County Dark", this beer is by far the superior brew. Sweet and nutty, with a bit of roast. xmarcnolanx (945) - Kirkwood, Missouri, USA - APR 14, 2009
Aroma is slightly alcoholic, nutty, some small amount of caramel, and a yeasty, fruity finish.
Head quickly dissipates. A deep amber color.
Taste is slightly nutty, roasty/malty, touch of sour, dirty water and sweetness.
Finishes sweet and slightly cloying.
Very, very average.

Acquired in a trade with Matt7215. Pours a mahogany colour with a nice tan coloured head. Aroma is of caramel, chocolate, a hint of red berries and a nutty aroma. Tastes nice and roasty with caramel and chocolate coming through. The finish tastes like spiced nuts. Creamy mouth feel. Nice beer. Thanks Matt!
