Another good one from Wellington! Medium body with good malt flavour and a bitter hop finish caledonian (367) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 18, 2003
Dark reddish brown. Malty aroma. Goes down reasonably well. Wouldn't want to consume in quantity. UM02 (366) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 23, 2011
Nice roasty malt taste. The finish is a little bit weak and watery or else I would probably give it an even higher mark but on the other hand that makes it easy to drink and it is still a very nice strong ale. Most of the flavour is in the foretaste. This brewery seems to be much better with darker, stronger beers than lighter pale beers. Pringao_Toribi (355) - Oviedo, SPAIN - OCT 11, 2013
Great dark beer, with dried fruit reminiscences in its aroma and with a heavy an clean flavour. yrstruly (333) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 22, 2013
Bottle from the brewery. Pours deep brownish red with aroma of caramel, dried fruit, and dark malt. Fairly sweet up front, leading to woody, fruity, and slightly bitter flavours. Nicely balanced the whole way through.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2009 a really nice and particular aroma, smells slightly candyish and fruity. tastes malty and sweet with a little bit of a dark stout taste at the back of the mouth, great low amount of carbonation and like any great high percent beer you cant even tell its anything better than normal. slightly less "filling" than the wellington dark allowing you to get alot more drunk without feeling bloated. also lower than "premium" priced, and with the 6.5% abv this is one of the best choices to get for cheap per alcohol unit and taste.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. The aroma reminded me of that of a Dubbel. It was malty and full of some nuts and fruits. It was smooth and flavorable and bettered as it got closer to room temperature. very impressed with this ale. StompBrockmore (316) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 18, 2006
341ml bottle - pours very dark brown, with a small off white head. Aroma is of big, nutty, chocolately malt. Taste gives more subtle chocolate, nuts, dark malt, and a little bit of hoppiness. The finish on this is very short, imparting only a mild bitterness at the end. For a fairly strong beer, there isn’t the faintest trace of alcohol anywhere in the nose or flavour, going down or otherwise. That makes this incredible drinkable. This is very fine stuff from the folks at Wellington, up there with their Russian Imp. Stout. SimonPatrice (312) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 1, 2003
Mahogany body, beige head. Malty aroma, cookie dough, caramel, dark fruits. Strong malt flavor, big body, blueberries in the after taste. Nice hopping to balance it off. A big thanks to Captain Flurries for this beer. RC8 (305) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 3, 2010
Solid strong beer with a pretty complex malty flavour and an alcoholic bite. Wouldn’t drink large amounts of it, but it’s well worth trying.
